Kid Rock Salutes the Troops presented by Jim Beam: Patriot Day 2010

Kid Rock and Jim Beam Bourbon join together to show support for our troops on Sept 11th. In support of America’s service members, Kid Rock and Jim Beam Bourbon are hosting a special concert on Patriot Day (Sept 11) to honor the deserving heroes of our nation. The special concert event, called “Kid Rock Salutes the Troops presented by Jim Beam: Patriot Day 2010,” will feature opening act Blackberry Smoke and will be free to all service members and their families who present their valid government issued military identification card. “Kid Rock is an American music staple, and Jim Beam is ‘America’s Native Spirit,’ so it’s only fitting that the two of us are continuing to stand by our nation’s heroes,” said Kevin George, global chief marketing officer, Beam Global Spirits & Wine. “The Patriot Day concert in Columbia is just one way for Jim Beam to honor our service members, and we look forward to toasting the men and women in our armed services with an unforgettable performance by Kid Rock.” The Patriot Day concert is one of a series of initiatives that the musician and the world’s No. 1 Bourbon have activated in support of America’s troops. These efforts include: • This year, the rock star teamed up with Operation Homefront® and Jim Beam to distribute exclusive music and encourage consumers to donate to Operation Homefront on special edition gift cartons of Jim Beam and Red Stag by Jim Beam™. • Kid Rock is slated to host a deserving service member at an upcoming concert as part of the Jim Beam and Operation Homefront “Salute Soldiers with the Spirit of America” program. • Last year, Kid Rock donated 50 cents from every ticket sold at select shows of his “Rock ‘N Rebels” concert tour hosted by Jim Beam to Operation Homefront, provider of emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. The American Country Awards

Fox executives reveal plans for an all-new awards show titled the American Country Awards. Country music artists will soon have another trophy to aim for as Fox executives announce the launch of an all-new fan-voted awards show coming this winter. The American Country Awards will air December 6th from fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada. It will be a live 2-hour broadcast showcasing performances, special guests, and fan-voting campaigns. There has been no announcement so far as to who will host or perform on the show, but with Fox’s deep pockets and wide audience, I’m sure they will not disappoint! “So many of the American Idol contestants or winners were going to the Country format, so we thought there was a good link to tie in Country music with FOX. It’s going to be presented in a variety show format. There will be awards given out, but they won’t be your typical ‘Entertainer Of The Year’ or ‘Song Of The Year’ awards. The awards are secondary to what we want the show to be about. We want to make great performances on the show that are something you can’t see on the ACM and CMA Awards.” -Fletcher Foster (co-producer of the awards show). Categories for the awards include “Artist Of The Year,” “Album Of The Year,” “Touring Artist Of The Year,” “Single Of The Year” and “Music Video By A Breakthrough Artist,” among others. Further details about the show will be announced as the date gets closer. Is this a marketing scheme to capitalize on the resurgence of mainstream country music, or just a broadcasting company trying to give its’ viewers more of what they want? Do we care? What do you think?Country Music Photo Gallery
