Kellie Pickler Guests On The Ellen Degeneres Show. Kellie Pickler is out and about promoting her single “Tough” and the release of it’s brand new video, and she stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show Tuesday, October 4th. Now, if you’ve ever watch The Ellen Show, you know Ellen likes to get up to some pretty crazy hijinks, and always likes to have a little fun with her guests (this is definitely not your average talk show!). I really think the test of an easy-going individual is whether or not they are really willing to just go with it, and join in the joke with Ellen, even if they are the punch-line in the joke. Kellie Pickler is definitely one of these easy going individuals. Besides the interview, and performing “Tough“, Kellie also let Ellen and her assistants give her a “spa treatment” on stage. Now, this was not your run of the mill spa treatment, and really ended up looking more like an episode of “I Love Lucy“. Yet, Kellie went with it, and was a good sport for the sake of the humor! This little sketch really show cased Pickler’s personality and how personable she can be! You can check out the video clip of the “spa treatment” and Kellie’s live performance of “Tough” below. Her performance of “Tough” is really great, and demonstrates just how much vocal talent that tiny frame of hers can contain, and the “spa treatment” clip is absolutely hilarious! Martina McBride on Invitation Only

Martina McBride Next Star on CMTs Invitation Only. Martina McBride will be the next country star featured on CMT‘s “Invitation Only“. The series features one artist per episode and includes that star’s performances of their all time hits as well as their newer music. Each episode also includes an informal question and answer sessions between the artists and fans. The episode is taped in Nashville with a small, live studio audience. Martina will be the artist taking the stage in the upcoming episode, and she will be performing her hits like “This One’s for the Girls,” “Love’s the Only House” and “Wrong Baby Wrong” in addition to new singles “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” and “Teenage Daughters”. Her most recent singles are off of her album, Eleven, which will be released on October 11th. Martina’s episode of “Invitation Only” will air Monday, October 17th at 10pm/11pm ET/PT on CMT.

Taylor Swift Performs with Usher and T.I.

Taylor Swift Continues to Stretch Genres, Performs with Usher and T.I. Well, I have been harping on this whole Justin Bieber invading the country scene tangent for some time now. The last I said about this, I kind of left Taylor Swift off the hook. However, Taylor may just be contributing more heavily to the undermining of the country genre that I believe is going on, than maybe I originally thought. At a recent concert in Atlanta, GA that took place Saturday, October 1st, Taylor welcomed two guest performers to the stage, pop-icon Usher and rapper T.I. With Usher, Taylor performed his hit “Yeah“, and with T.I., she performed his hit “Live Your Life“. First, I would like to point out that this combination would be more impressive if Usher and T.I. were performing one of Taylor’s songs rather than their own hit singles. This, however, is pretty much unimaginable, and highly unlikely to take place. Similarly, it really doesn’t make sense that Taylor would choose these two guests, and perform these two songs in particular. Nothing about either song really has any connection to or resonance with the country genre. It is simply bizarre. Secondly, these songs are completely inappropriate for a live event. I honestly don’t know how Usher and T.I. get away with performing these songs live, when they perform on their own tours (and I like both of these artists and both of these songs! This is not a biased point of view). It may be the quality of the videos I watched, but there isn’t any chemistry between Taylor and either of these gentlemen and the sound quality is terrible. These really should be relegated to playing in the car or at the club. I appreciate that Taylor is trying to branch out, stretch her musical boundaries, etc. She might consider trying to stick closer to her genre a little more, though, until she gets some more experience with different types of music under her belt. I know she has done some very funny rap sketches in the past, but those were supposed to be funny. I really don’t think it qualifies her to perform with rappers. Kellie Pickler Guest Stars On 90210. Kellie Pickler is hitting the music scene with her recent single “Tough“, and she is also starting to branch out by cultivating her acting talent. Pickler will be guest starring on the CW remake of 90210. She will be filling the role of Sally, a (not surprising) country singing cousin of season regular Austin (played by Justin Deeley). Besides getting to see Kellie showcase her acting skills, viewers will also get to see a special performance of “Tough“. The episode will air October 18th on the CW Network, so check local listings for details on times! Pickler will preview clips of the upcoming episode on her appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show on Tuesday, October 4th.

Scotty McCreery Sings National Anthem

Scotty McCreery Set To Sing National Anthem at World Series. Scotty McCreery will be singing the National Anthem at Game One of the 2011 World Series which will air on the Fox network. The World Series will kick-off Wednesday, October 19th. Not surprisingly, Scotty is rather excited about this special opportunity and honor he has been offered. “This is absolutely incredible for me. I have had two loves in life–music and baseball. The World Series is this biggest event in baseball, so to be there and be able to sing the National Anthem is like putting my two greatest loves together.” -Scotty McCreery Besides his upcoming appearance at the World Series, Scotty has plenty more to be excited about! Darius Rucker’s Current Single I Got Nothin’ Music Video! Darius Rucker’s current single “I Got Nothin’” is currently #20 on Billboard’s Top 100 country charts! The emotional song is off of his sophomore album, Charleston, SC 1966, and was released earlier this summer. I find this song getting stuck in my head daily! It is a story of a difficult relationship, and for some reason I can’t help but love it. It could be his great voice or the awesome music it is set to, but something about this song pulls me in! Tom’s Wild Life On GAC

I Have To Share With You One Of My New Favorite Shows! First of all I’m going to admit that I am a bit of a reality TV junky…yes, I’m guilty! One of my new favorite shows is “Tom’s Wild Life” on GAC! The series was premiered Sunday, September 18 and is hilarious! It is a reality show that is based on Tom McMillan’s life and outfitting business. Each episode includes him, his family and friends (usually from the country music world) hanging out and hunting! The first episode we are introduced to Tom and his friendship with Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. We are invited to their Halloween party as well as a successful hunting trip! The second episode features Josh Kelly, Miranda Lambert’s parents, tattoos, fly fishing and turkeys. This past Sunday Tom was joined by Ashley Monroe, Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley, the ladies of Pistol Annies! It is just a fun show that has me laughing the entire time, so I thought I’d share it with you in case you were looking for a new Sunday night program. It comes on at 9/8c on GAC every Sunday! Here is a video to give you a sneak peak of the kind of humor you are in for!

Kellie Pickler Releases Video for Single Tough. Kellie Pickler has released the video for her most recent single “Tough” that was released over the summer. The release of this single marks Pickler’s first musical release since 2008, and the wait was well worth it. “Tough” is a strong song about a strong woman. The music is upbeat and sassy with well-written lyrics to match. I am happy to report that the video definitely lives up to standard set by the song. There is a fair amount of hip shaking and sexy prancing around by Pickler, but not to the point that it is detrimental to the message. She really does embody a strong, country gal who has made the best of the lemons life has thrown her way. Also, she manages this just fine all on her own. I certainly hope that the rest of the music on the album “Tough” belongs to is just as strong as this initial single. Check Out The Video for “Tough” Now! Heidi Newfield and Bridgette Tatum Kick-Off The She’s Country Tour Heidi Newfield and Bridgette Tatum will be headlining the She’s Country Tour which will be kicking-off in Little Rock, AR on November 2nd. The She’s Country Tour is an all-girl country genre club tour that is being presented by Pendleton Whiskey in association with Paradigm Talent Agency Nashville and 343 Agency. Both Newfield and Tatum have committed to 13 dates so far, which are listed below. “Paradigm Nashville is proud to help launch this unique all-female tour…Heidi and Bridgette both bring high-energy performances and a ‘let’s party’ attitude that are perfectly suited for these venues.” –She’s Country Tour co-producer and Paradigm Nashville co-head, Mike Snider You might know Newfield from her days with the country group Trick Pony whose singles include “Pour Me” and “Its A Heartache“. Or you may know her just for being Heidi Newfield having released a solo debut album, What Am I Waiting For, in 2008 which was nominated for five ACM Awards. Bridgette Tatum released her debut album Sex, Church & Chicken in 2010, and her single “Loud” was chosen as the ACC Football Conference’s 2010 season theme song. Also, Tatum co-wrote Jason Aldean‘s hit “She’s Country“. So, clearly both these ladies have the chops to headline a tour like this. It is extremely refreshing to see a tour like this come together which specifically showcases the female talent, spirit and hard-work in the country genre. John Rich Welcomes Second Child

John Rich Announces the Birth of Second Son! John Rich has announced that he and wife Joan welcomed the arrival of their second son Thursday, September 29th! He made the announcement (of course!) via Twitter on October 2nd, and shared that they have named their child, Colt Daniel Rich. He wrote in the message: “He’s a real ‘Son of a Gun’…VERY proud!!”. Colt joins brother Cash who was born in 2010. Rich and his wife have been married since 2008. Congratulations to the whole family!!
