Natalie Maines To Release New Solo Album, Mother, May 7th! Natalie Maines will be releasing brand new music this year in the form of her new solo album, Mother! The new record promises to have a rock vibe, inspired in part by iconic British rock group Pink Floyd and will release on May 7th. The new record was produced by Ben Harper whom Natalie performed with live more than once earlier this year. Maines’ cover of the Pink Floyd song, “Mother“, will be available via iTunes as early as January 15th as it is featured on the soundtrack for new documentary, West of Memphis, chronicling the harrowing story of the West Memphis three. Now, just because Maines is releasing a solo project doesn’t mean the Dixie Chicks are gone for good or at all. The trio, still the top selling female group of any genre of all time, will be performing at the 2013 Craven Country Jamboree! Watch Natalie Maines and Ben Harper Perform “Mother” Live.
The Dixie Chicks Rejoin Country, Headline 2013 Craven Country Jamboree In Canada. Looks like the country scene is (finally) ready to welcome back The Dixie Chicks into the country music fold. The talented and dynamic trio will be headlining the upcoming 2013 Craven Country Jamboree, an annual country music festival held in Craven, Saskatchewan (Canada). The Dixie Chicks will be replacing the originally scheduled Lady Antebellum who have pulled out of several summer commitments since announcing Hillary Scott’s pregnancy. “We knew we had to find something extra special to replace Lady Antebellum when the band canceled their summer dates due to Hilary Scott’s pregnancy. We are extremely excited that we can offer a taste of country music royalty to the Craven Country Jamboree. And it won’t be a regular show – not only will our fans see Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Emily Robison, the three original members, this is a greatest hits package. The Craven date will be one of the only opportunities fans of the band will have to see them live. This is an incredibly special moment for Chicks fans and the Craven Country Jamboree. This is the biggest, deepest lineup of any festival in Canada. We always strive to bring something for everyone from the biggest names in country music, to the best Canadian acts, to amazing classic country, all at the lowest price.” -Kim Blevins, director of marketing The Dixie Chicks will be performing as the Saturday, July 13th headliners, and are joining the likes of Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, Randy Travis and more! Martie McGuire of Dixie Chicks fame makes a special appearance with Austin’s Bob Schneider for live DVD filming. Austin musician Bob Schneider welcomed Dixie Chick Martie McGuire to the share the stage in a duet performance of “Changing your Mind” that caused the audience to sit in total silence. Schneider is commonly referred to as “Austin’s most favorite singer and songwriter” and was gathering footage for his soon-to-be-released DVD taping show at the Paramount Theater. I first heard of Bob through the Galleywinter forums (an online community dedicated to celebrating Texas musicians) and am excited to get my hands on a copy of this DVD once it becomes available! In the meantime, enjoy some shots taken at the filming courtesy of SpinEarth.tv Country Music Photo Gallery
