<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Drew Parker is stepping boldly into his next chapter with some help from one of Christian music’s most celebrated voices.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The country singer-songwriter has released a new version of his fan-favorite song “Blame Jesus” featuring Steven Curtis Chapman. The collaboration officially impacts Christian radio today.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Produced by Jacob Rice, “Blame Jesus” was written by Parker alongside Ray Fulcher and Dan Wilson. The guitar-driven track pairs Parker’s traditional country foundation with a deeply personal message about faith, surrender and finding a new sense of purpose.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“If you’re wondering why I can’t be who I was, blame Jesus,” Parker sings in the song’s defining line.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Steven Curtis Chapman Suggested the Collaboration</h2>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The pairing began after Parker and Chapman met during a songwriting session several years ago.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Parker later released “Blame Jesus” as a solo track. After hearing it, Chapman reached out and suggested that they record a version together.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“When Steven Curtis Chapman offers to sing on your song, the answer is pretty easy,” Parker said. “I’ve been a fan of his for as long as I can remember, so getting to release this version of ‘Blame Jesus’ with him is a really special moment for me.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chapman said he connected with Parker’s songwriting, voice and heart from their first meeting.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Then I heard ‘Blame Jesus’ and instantly fell in love with the song,” Chapman said. “I couldn’t be more honored that he invited me to help tell this story and share this incredible song with the world.”</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The two artists previewed the collaboration earlier this year at the BMI Christian Awards, where Chapman introduced Parker during his performance.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He has also spent years developing his own career through Grand Ole Opry appearances, independent releases and songs rooted in his Georgia country upbringing.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">More recently, Parker has been moving toward music that speaks openly about his Christian faith. His short film, <em>Hanging Up a Hat</em>, explored the pressure he experienced while chasing success in Nashville and the peace he found after reconsidering what he wanted his career to represent.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">“Blame Jesus” does not abandon the country sound that built Parker’s career. Instead, it offers a clearer picture of the stories he wants to tell next.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Chapman brings considerable history to that transition. The five-time Grammy winner has earned 60 Dove Awards and 50 No. 1 singles during his career. In 2024, he became the first contemporary Christian artist inducted into <a title="the Grand Ole Opry" href="https://countrymusicontour.com/category/the-grand-ole-opry/">the Grand Ole Opry</a>.</p>
