Independent powerhouse Drew Baldridge today announced the upcoming release of his new song “Can She Have This Dance” (via Patoka Records) out Friday, May 12, to kick off Mother’s Day weekend. Written by Baldridge alongside Adam Craig and Jordan Walker, the song was produced by Nick Schwarz. “Can She Have This Dance” chronicles a mother-son dance at a wedding. Pre-save the song HERE.
“I came up with the idea for ‘Can She Have This Dance’ ahead of my own wedding two years ago,” said Baldridge. “My mom and I couldn’t find the perfect song for the two of us to dance to at my wedding, so I ended up writing this song for that moment. Now, I’m excited to release the song for other people to use on their own special days.”
“Can she have this dance
Can she steal me for the next one
Just 3 more minutes
For a momma and her son
Ya she’s gonna cry and so will I
Cause in her eyes I’m still her baby boy
Ya you know I’m your man
But can she have this dance”
“The night Drew danced with his mom to this song at our wedding I thought it was special, but when he called me and told me to re-listen to it after having our own baby boy it had me in tears thinking that one day that’ll be me dancing with our son at his wedding,” said Katie Baldridge, Drew’s wife. “It’s such a special gift for my first Mother’s Day.”
