Lillie Mae Announced as First 2019 LR Baggs AMERICANAFEST Session

NASHVILLE, TN (October 25, 2019) … LR Baggs has released the first videos from their 2019 AMERICANAFEST Sessions, featuring Nashville-based multi-instrumentalist, Lillie Mae. Fresh off her 2019 release Other Girls are live versions of “Whole Blue Heart”, “Didn’t I”, and “A Golden Year”, along with a cover of “El Cumbanchero” where Mae’s fiddle work shines.

Filmed during the 2019 AMERICANAFEST in Nashville, Mae is joined by sister Scarlett Rische (mandolin), brother Frank Rische (electric and acoustic guitars), and bandmates Misa Arriaga (drums), Brian Zonn (bass), and Ryan Keith (Wurlitzer) in the LR Baggs Soundcheck studio. The videos were directed and edited by Mike Luckett, with camera work by Dave Johnson, and audio mixing by David Brubaker. The session features the LR Baggs Anthem, Violin pickup, Radius Mandolin pickup, Para DI, and Venue DI.

“Hanging out at Robert’s, a storied Nashville honky-tonk, a decade ago my friend Dave burst in blathering something about the best band he’d ever heard playing next door at Layla’s. Sure Dave. After a few more of these uncontrolled outbursts Dave persuaded us to leave Robert’s and we somehow shouldered our way into a packed Layla’s,” says Lloyd Baggs, owner and founder of LR Baggs. “Dave was right and we met and fell in love with Lillie Mae and her then band of siblings Jypsi that night. We became instant friends and I’ve enjoyed watching her undeniable career blossom ever since. I’m thrilled for her current success and even more thrilled to now be able to present the incomparable Lillie Mae to you, our fans.”

Mae’s latest project, Other Girls, was produced by the ubiquitous Grammy Award-winner Dave Cobb at the historic RCA Studio A. This is her second release on Third Man Records, following Forever and Then Some in 2017. Mae opened up for Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters on tour earlier this year and future tour dates can be found on her website.

Other Girls hits the Americana nail right on the head in that it uses a foundation of folk with bluegrass band timing and blues and country stylistic choices while tonally and stylistically evoking a sound that’s dark and Southern gothic,” writes The Boot. “It’s sophisticated, layered and a clear move toward a bolder sound.”

Mae is the first in an incredible lineup of artists to grace the LR Baggs 2019 AMERICANAFEST Sessions. The 2018 sessions saw performances from Lula Wiles, Jay Buchanan, Buxton, John R. Miller, Kelsey Waldon, Molly Tuttle, Chance McCoy, and Lera Lynn. Keep an eye out for more exciting music to come in the following weeks.
