Fusing a young man’s take on heartland rock with the tougher side of Texas country songs and the cocky enthusiasm of alt-country firebrands, the Eli Young ensemble have become a potent draw in the Southwest on the strength of local airplay and extensive touring. The Eli Young Band’s story began when Mike Eli and James Young both enrolled at the University of North Texas and found themselves sharing a dorm room as freshmen. Both played guitar, and the two new friends starting writing and singing music together. Under the name Eli & Young, they began performing acoustic performances at local bars and coffeehouses, and in time they opened up the ensemble into a full electric quartet with the addition of fellow students Jon Jones on bass and Chris Thompson on drums, thus giving rise to the Eli Young Band.

The lineup became a potent local draw, and in 2003 they opened a show for rising star Miranda Lambert. Producer Frank Liddell saw the show and was impressed enough to offer the ensemble a deal with his independent label, Carnival Recording. The Eli Young Band’s debut album, Level, appeared in 2005, and the music “That’s the Way” and “When It Rains” began scoring significant airplay in the Lone Star State. The Eli Young Band’s enthusiastic live show helped them draw a large and loyal audience in the Southwest, where they were able to fill 2,000 seat clubs as a headliner, and they toured the country as an opener for the likes of Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Jack Ingram. In 2006, the group’s live show was captured for posterity on the concert recording Live at the Jolly Fox, taped during a gig at a club in Huntsville, TX. The Eli Young group then acquired a deal with the Universal-distributed Republic Records; a video for a new recording of “When It Rains” subsequently received extensive play on Country material Television, and the group’s first record for Republic, Jet Black & Jealous, was gave us September 2008. Several of the band’s older releases were then reissued in early via iTunes, including the self-titled effort Eli Young band.

Eli Young Band Renews Bud Light Partnership! Country music goes pretty well with a cold beer, and Eli Young Band is putting this combo to good use in their partnership with Bud Light! The band has officially announced that they are expanding their already existing relationship with the popular brand. Bud Light will have a larger presence on EYB’s tour, and the band will play their part through digital, print and radio materials. “We are excited about continuing our relationship with Bud Light. They have been behind us since we were playing the small venues. The Eli Young Band Now Has Their Second Consecutive #1 Song With “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” The Eli Young Band has gained their second consecutive #1 song with “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” The follow up to “Crazy Girl” has a great message that has obviously impacted country music listeners. The song itself has its own life and seems to take over the space you are in while listening, from the opening beat to the intensity of the chorus, it is hard not to enjoy this song! Congrats to these guys, because they are very deserving and obviously practicing what they preach! Eli Young Band Heads Out On First International Tour! Australia sure does love their country music, and that’s where Eli Young Band is headed as they kick off their first ever international tour! It kicked off Friday, March 16th and will continue through the Spring. They will be opening for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, and will be making stops in Adelaide, Hunter Valley, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. This June, EYB will be back in the US and will be opening up for Rascal Flatts on their American Band Tour. Will you be catching EYB live?

Eli Young Band Set Release Date For New Video. The Eli Young Band will release their new video for track, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart“, on Friday, January 13th. You can catch the debut on both CMT and CMT.com as part of the “Premieres” series. In the meantime, EYB will be performing on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Monday, January 9th on NBC at 11:35pm (ET). So, be sure and check them out! Eli Young Band Plays for Troops

Eli Young Band Celebrates 4th with Concert for Troops. The Eli Young Band will be kicking off their 4th of July weekend celebrations with a special free concert just for the troops! They will be performing on Thursday, June 30th at the Freedom Crossing in Fort Bliss, TX, and will be honoring the military personnel who are currently stationed there. It isn’t an exclusive celebration, though! The concert will also be open to those not in the military who want to get in on all the patriotic fun! The group will be continuing their July 4th celebrations throughout the weekend with concerts in South Padre Island for the KTEX Freedom Beach Fest at Schlitterbahn and in Riverside, CA, for K-Frog’s Red, White, and Cruise at Auto Club Speedway. Tickets are still available for both of these concerts. Eli Young Band’s current single “Crazy Girl” is still proving successful on the charts and continues to rise. Eli Young Band At The Rib Room

Eli Young Band At Neumeier’s Rib Room in Fort Smith, AR! This past Thursday (June 9) the Eli Young Band headlined a sold out show at Neumeier’s Rib Room in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Downtown Garrison Avenue was a non-stop party with doors opening at 6:00pm. Guests had a few drinks and ate a few ribs while waiting for the show to begin at 8:00 pm. 2 Steps Back were the openers and did a spectacular job of warming up the crowd. I’m almost sure the beer garden shook with excitement as EYB took the stage. The first song they played was their hit “When It Rains” and the last song they played was another enormously local hit “Oklahoma Girl“. In between was “Jet Black & Jealous“, “Radio Waves“, “So Close Now“, “Enough Is Enough“, “Always The Love Songs“, “Crazy Girl“, “Highways And Broken Hearts“, “Small Town Kid“, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Gimme Three Steps“, Tom Petty’s “American Girl“, along with others. I have seen these boys numerous times at numerous venues, as the opener or headline act, let me tell you I have not been disappointed once! They interact with the crowd and enjoy their time on the stage. They are currently on a jam-packed touring schedule, tonight and tomorrow playing in Texas and Sunday in Nashville at the CMA Music Fest. Their songs are very relatable, in fact I dare you to not relate to one in some way, I promise it’s impossible. If you are into the “red dirt” type music they play then I strongly advise you to take a look at their schedule to find a show near you!
