Mandy Barnett, one of the most heralded voices in music and a favorite of Grand Ole Opry fans, was surprised on her birthday last night with an invitation to become an official Opry member. Barnett has appeared on the Opry more than 500 times over the course of nearly 30 years. Opry member Connie Smith joined Barnett on stage to lead the Opry audience in “Happy Birthday”, then read a birthday card that included Barnett’s invitation. “You’ve felt like family since we first met, and on this, your special day, we’re honored to invite you to become an official member of the Grand Ole Opry!” Smith read.

Filmed at open-air Ascend Amphitheater and multiple other locations around downtown Nashville, the special features a setlist of performances and collaborations curated by the artists themselves.
BIG MACHINE RECORDS artist CARLY PEARCE received the surprise of her life late last week when DOLLY PARTON invited her to become a member of the GRAND OLE OPRY. When the invitation was extended, PEARCE believed she was taping a promotion for the DOLLYWOOD theme park, where she got her start. As she took her mark for the shoot, PARTON walked in, and started talking about how PEARCE had played the OPRY more than 80 times, joking, “You’d think they’d make you a member.” PARTON then cracked a big smile, and said, “And they are! They’re asking you to become a member of the GRAND OLE OPRY!”
GRAND OLE OPRY members BRAD PAISLEY and BLAKE SHELTON will co-host the “GRAND OLE OPRY: 95 YEARS OF COUNTRY MUSIC” special airing on SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 14th at 9p (ET) on NBC-TV. The two-hour show will feature Country music stars performing their hits and covering classics. Additionally, the OPRY will open its archives that span a period of nine decades and include interviews, performances and appearances by Country artists in all stages of their careers. Later that same week, PAISLEY will celebrate his 20th anniversary as a GRAND OLE OPRY member. SHELTON is marking 10 years as a member.
