The Judds Document the Last Encore Tour

The Judds to turn their Last Encore tour into a reality show on Oprah’s OWN network? Country’s classic duo, The Judds, have announced that they will be documenting their Last Encore tour to be aired on the Oprah Winfrey network. After watching the pair in a few recent interviews, I’m sure this will be interesting to say the very least. They both display so much tension between them, even in short interview segments, that I can only imagine what it would be like to follow them around with a camera 24/7. The duo is optimistic about the series though, stating: After 25 years of touring, recording and singing the music we love, we are beyond excited to begin this new adventure together and share it with the fans,” mother and daughter said in a statement. “To have this opportunity is amazing and the OWN Network is the perfect home for us.” I wish them both the best of luck and can’t wait for the tour to kick off later this month! You can also stay tuned to ABC on Wednesday November 10th for a special performance from Wynonna and Naomi on the 2010 CMA Awards! Country Music Photo Gallery

How The Judds Changed My Life

Looking back on when I fell in love with The Judds. Sometimes music is more than just entertainment. Sometimes music has the power to change our lives or steer our course. The Judds did that for me. As a very young child, I was part of an extremely dysfunctional family. Without going into details, it was needless to say that “love” in the common sense of the word was not something I witnessed in a real life setting. One day, when I was around 8 going on 9, my aunt came to visit my family for a little while. In the midst of the hurt and chaos that always surrounded our home, my aunt managed to give me the greatest gift I could possibly ever receive. She sang to me. She sang songs by Kathy Mattea that were lonesome and heartbreaking. Songs by Melissa Etheridge that were challenging and defiant. Songs by Sweethearts of the Rodeo, Reba McEntire, and even a little Debbie Gibson I think. But for years down the road, the only songs that stood out in my memory from that visit were songs of hope, friendship, romance, family, and life. Those songs would shape my dreams for my future. They would be the soundtrack that I built my life with my children around, and I would use as the bar to measure my relationships by. Those songs that my aunt placed in my head were songs about love in all its different forms. And they were all from The Judds. Thank you Aunt Trish, Naomi, and Wynonna… you changed my life.

The Judds to Help Close Oprah’s Last Season

Naomi and Wynonna Judd help Oprah kick off her final season on Daytime TV. As Oprah begins her 25th and final season on daytime TV, a few old friends come out to help her celebrate. Wynonna and Naomi are slated for Tuesday’s “Oprah” show, according to The Chicago Tribune, with Wy discussing her loss of a staggering 60 pounds. The edition was taped Sept. 3, according to a tweet from executive producer Sheri Salata, and the Judds talk a bit about what fans can expect with the Last Encore. The tour doesn’t kick off until Nov. 26, but they gave a 45-minute preview of it to launch the CMA Music Festival in June. The duo’s classic songs sounded basically the same, but they’ve been given different sonic textures. And that’s by design. “Some families do stay stuck in this ‘I remember you when you were this tall’ [nostalgia],” Wy says. “Well, I’m not this tall anymore. I’m not 18. I have two children, divorce, close to death — I’ve had all these experiences. I’m not the same person I was. So they need to see us where we are today. It’s why I’m doing ‘Oprah.’” The tour should be one of the most-talked-about events in country music during the holiday season, and it ends in Phoenix — the same city where they staged their millennium reunion concert on the final day of 1999. In the meantime, Wy put together a campaign of her own with Cracker Barrel. The stores are selling her 12-track album Love Heals. Also available: Wynonna sunglasses, a Wynonna journal and a Wynonna cosmetic bag. One other Wynonna-related item to look for this fall: the Christmas On Highway 101 DVD. Highway 101 racked up numerous awards during the 1980s, and the band shot the live holiday set in Concord, N.C. It’s slated for release Nov. 9, and Wy makes a special guest appearance.Country Music Photo Gallery

The Judds Final Reunion Tour Schedule

The schedule of dates has finally been announced for The Judds Final Reunion Tour! It’s hard to believe that it has been over 10 years since Country Music’s legendary duo, The Judds, 2000 “Power To Change” tour. I’m quite certain that this reunion tour will be just as amazing as their last. Country music fans across the country were asked to name their upcoming tour in The Judds “Name That Tour” contest. Congratulations to Jacqualine Budgell, the very lucky fan from Murfreesboro, TN that was chosen as the winner. According to Naomi, The Last Encore tour is an opportunity to celebrate the relationship with their fans one last time. “There is nothing like music and laughter to connect people,” she says. “How I’ve missed that encounter with the very ones who’ve allowed us that awesome privilege! I’m counting the days till I can be back on my bus, visiting their towns.” In addition to their enduring 26-year relationship with the fans, Wynonna shares her sentiment on reuniting with her mother, Naomi, again. “This tour gives me a chance to enjoy where Mom and I are in our relationship. I look forward to celebrating our personal and professional journey…together.” And, for the fans who have followed their journey together through the years, this final curtain call will be yet another reason to celebrate. The tour will kick off on November 26, the day after Thanksgiving, in Green Bay, Wisconsin and will continue on to their home state of Kentucky with a play in Louisville alongside dates in Salt Lake City, UT, Los Angeles, CA and Las Vegas, NV. The Judds will close their final tour with a full circle moment in Phoenix, AZ where their 2000 “Power To Change” tour began. The Judds: The Last Encore tour will feature new Judds and Wynonna music from the upcoming album while also shining a bright light on all of the fan’s Judds and Wynonna favorites. Fans, it is very important to note that this really will be the last chance to see the legendary Judds perform together and that tickets are guaranteed to sell extremely quickly. Wynonna Judd Gives Sneak Preview of New Album Sing: Chapter1

Wynonna Judd returns to a more classic country sound with her new album”Sing: Chapter 1″ Due to hit store shelves February 3rd. It’s been a while since we’ve heard much from Wynonna Judd, but it’s been well worth the wait for long-time fans. Wynonna has released a preview of her new album “Sing: Chapter 1”for fans to listen to and enjoy. The album of standards that pay homage to her past is set to release nationwide on February 3rd, and I can’t wait! You can always depend on Wynonna to give a heartfelt performance of raw vocals, and soulful emotion in every song. My personal favorites on the new album are “Till I get it Right” and the original title track “Sing”. Really, the entire album completely embodies the all-consuming compulsion that a true singer has to just lay it all out on the table for the world to listen to just because it feels damned good to do so. During the last year I have started gravitating toward the past,” says Wynonna about the making of this record. “I have such an incredible history of these songs being played in the background while I’m living my life. So the whole album is a real cross-section of all the different genres I grew up with. It’s all me, its all part of the tapestry of who I am. When Wynonna isn’t working on promoting her new album, she’s speaking out for achieving a healthy lifestyle with her partners at Alli, whose representatives had this to say: She represents what so many Americans face on a daily basis: a woman who is challenged to find the balance of living life in the healthiest way possible. alli is dedicated to teaching people how to make positive, long-lasting life changes. For that reason, we’re pleased that Wynonna has selected us to help her accomplish her goals for living a healthier lifestyle. Country Music Photo Gallery

Dwight Yoakam Only Country Singer on Coachella Festival

One set of dates that’s solid on Dwight Yoakam’s schedule comes April 26. He’s the only country artist set to appear in Indio, Calif., at the annual Coachella music festival, which this year features Pink Floyd alum Roger Waters, Death Cab For Cutie, Kraftwerk and Portishead. The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (commonly known as Coachella) is a three-day (formerly a one or two-day) annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California. The event features many genres of music including alternative rock, hip hop, country, and electronica as well as large sculptural art. The event has several stages/tents set-up throughout the grounds, each playing live music continuously. The main stages are: Coachella Stage, Outdoor Theatre, Gobi Tent, Mojave Tent, and the Sahara Tent (2006 also saw the addition of a smaller Oasis Dome). The following weekend, he’ll return to the same location for the second annual Stagecoach Country Music Festival. Among the artists booked so far for that event are Carrie Underwood, Big & Rich, Earl Scruggs, Rascal Flatts, Tim McGraw, Dierks Bentley and country music legends, The Judds.
