45th Annual CMA Nominees Announcement Date Set

Nominees for the 45th Annual CMAs To Be Announced September 6th! The 2011 CMA Awards are quickly approaching, and it’s almost time to find out who all the nominees are going to be! We here at the CMNB newsroom, as members of the Country Music Association, have already had the opportunity to weigh in on the nomination process, and we are incredibly excited to who made it into the final nominations! The announcement of the nominees will take place Tuesday, September 6th from two different locations. The Band Perry and Jake Owen will announce the final nominees of the first five categories at 8:30am on ABC‘s Good Morning America. This will be followed by a performance of “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” by Owen!. The nominees in the last seven categories will be announced from a press conference at the Ryman in Nashville by Jerrod Niemann and Thompson Square. (Also in NASHVILLE, duo The Janedear Girls will announce the finalists for the 2011 CMA Broadcast Award Personality and Radio Station of the Year in four categories (small, medium, large, and major markets), as well as the finalists for the CMA National Broadcast Personality.) Stay tuned because as soon as the nominees are announced we will have them posted for you! The 45th Annual Country Music Association Awards will be hosted by Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley and air at 7pm on Wednesday, November 9th at 7pm.

2011 CMA Awards Date Announced

The Date Is Set For 2011 CMA Awards! The date is set! The 45th Annual Country Music Association Awards will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Area Wednesday, November 9th at 8/7CT on ABC! CMA organizers are already gearing up for the big night, and expressing their excitement for what promises to be a barrel of fun for country music stars and fans. “The CMA Awards recognizes the best in the format – that’s what makes this ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night’. The CMA Awards is one of the most highly anticipated events for our industry each year. It’s a night to honor our finest performers, songwriters, record producers, musicians, and music video directors.” -Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer No news yet on who will be this year’s hosts or presenters. Last year Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood made it a memorable night, and you can bet whoever hosts this year will put on an equally great show. We are also waiting to find out what performances will be featured that night! So, make sure you mark your calendar and stay tuned for more details! Your 2010 CMA Winners

It was a proud night for Oklahoma as Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton dominated the 44th Annual CMA Awards! Please tell me I’m not the only one whose eyes teared up when Miss Loretta Lynn handed Miranda Lambert her award for Female Vocalist of the Year last night! Add to that her Music Video of the Year and Album of the Year and you can say the gal cleaned the house! Of course that would’ve made for an awkward ride home with fiance Blake Shelton, had he not won Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year. The couple are cheered on by Oklahoma’s finest fireball Reba McEntire who seemed absolutely brought to tears that the pair did Oklahoma so proud. CMA New Artist of the Year 2010 (or 2007?)

Jim Nash V. explores the reason an artist on his 3rd year of major success is just now getting a “Best New Artist” nomination. As new artists are signed up to perform at this years CMA Awards, I took a look at the nominations. Under New Artist of the Year I saw Luke Bryan. Uhh….. Luke Bryan? New Artist of the Year? This is 2010. Don’t they mean of 2007? Did someone forget to update their calendars? For reference, Luke Bryan release his first full length CD “I’ll Stay Me” on August 14, 2007. His released singles from that Album were “All My Friends Say” and “Country Man”, both of which did pretty well. Now, with an August CD release it’s not unusual that he did not make the CMA cut for New Artist (or the Horizon Award as it was known back then) in 2007, but why not a nod in 2008? So Luke releases his sophomore CD on October 6, 2009 and has so far seen success with “Do I”, “Rain is a Good Thing” and most recently “Someone Else Calling You Baby”. Now I like Luke. He’s a good country act complete with a pedal steel and fiddle player. We’ve seen him open for Sara Evans in 2007 and Dierks Bentley in 2008 and is currently opening for Jason Aldean on his Farm Tour. But has why is Luke getting New Artist recognition in 2010, on his second CD, and 3 years after he broke onto the scene? Anyone have any answers? Any artist who has previously won a CMA Award (except Song of the Year, Musical Event of the Year and Video of the Year) or who has twice been a final nominee for the Horizon Award or New Artist of the Year Award is ineligible for nomination.
