Dolly Parton Ditches Waterpark

Dolly Parton Pulls Out of Plans for Nashville Waterpark! Earlier this year, it was announced that country music powerhouse, Dolly Parton, was in the thick of plans to create a waterpark in Nashville, TN. It looks like this is one project Parton won’t be seeing to completion though. Dolly’s team has released an official statement indicating that she will no longer be involved in the plans. While her words are tactful and diplomatic, if we read between the lines, it looks like someone was trying to push this woman around a little bit, and those of us that love Dolly, know that was a mistake! “Gaylord makes decisions that they feel are good for their company and their stockholders and I have to make decisions based on what is best for me and the Dollywood Company. Governor Haslam, Mayor Dean, and all the folks in government have been great to work with. I really appreciate their support through this process. I think everyone knows I love Nashville and I hope the work we’ve already done will spark more family entertainment in Nashville.” -Dolly Parton This news is a bit of a bummer, but luckily we still have plenty of Dolly-themed fun to experience already!

That gives us energy when we are playing, so we always look forward to playing on college campuses.” -Moore “The spirit of these big SEC schools is pretty amazing. I never got to be a part of that, so I am looking forward to it.” -Moore Moore played point guard for Wallace State’s basketball team and also played on its golf team in Hanceville, Ala., for two years and then transferred to Valdolsta State University on a golf scholarship. Reba McEntire Retires From Hosting The ACMs

Reba Will No Longer Host The Academy Of Country Music Awards. Reba McEntire has announced that she will no longer host the Academy of Country Music Awards. She has “passed the torch to Blake,” who she has co-hosted with for the last two years. Before that Reba ran the show solo starting in 1999. Although this is sad news, it is good to hear she is confident that Shelton can get the job done! However, the two did make fans chuckle with their back and forth comedy on the previous years. I have to wonder if she is too busy with her new show Malibu Country or if she just feels it is time to step down? Whatever the case may be, we still love her! Here’s to Reba, a very classy lady!

This Is Where The Cowboy Rides Away

George Strait Announces Final Tour. Yesterday it was announced that George Strait will be putting on his last official, structured tours in 2013 and 2014. This is very sad news that hit me like a ton of bricks! I, along with many of you out there, have been singing along to King George for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my Mama, my Grandma, my aunts and every other important lady in my life in love with him. And naturally, my cousins and I followed in their good taste footsteps! He has had 59 #1 hits in his career and I believe I could sing them all word for word. They are the kind of songs that never get old. I could listen to a Strait song for hours on hours and not need a different artist in there to change things up. How many other singers can keep a person that focused? Not many! As I started writing this I turned Pandora on and immediately “You Look So Good in Love” filled the room. A huge smile came across my face and I was at a great place. There is no explaining it, you just get all happy inside. That is what George Strait does to people. And for that, millions of country music fans will always be grateful! I will do whatever it takes to see one of these shows! That is a PROMISE!
