Russell Dickerson News on Country Music News Blog

I don’t know about you, but I’m ready for some fresh faces in country music, and that’s exactly what we’re getting with Russell Dickerson. Emerging Nashville-born country artist Russell Dickerson has revealed his debut album Yours, set for release on October 13th via Sony Music. The twelve-track LP comes hot off the back of his blistering headline performance at this year’s Nashville Meets London festival, as well as arena tours with Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini. The album is available for pre-order now HERE. The first single is fan-favourite and title track ‘Yours’. Described as a “humble love song that grows into a powerful wedding anthem” by Taste Of Country, the single is currently making its ascent on the US country radio charts. Penned by Dickerson, Brown and Parker Welling, ‘Yours’ has garnered over 40 million digital streams to date, where he’s been on Spotify’s Hot Country, Country Gold Playlists and more for over a year. The track is written for his wife, who also shot and produced the music video that now has more than 3 million views. [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFccdvKehQI[/embedyt] Produced by Casey Brown, the album will include popular tracks currently on his EP including ‘Blue Tacoma’, ‘MGNO’ and ‘Every Little Thing’, plus seven further cuts for followers to devour. All of the songs on Yours are co-written by Dickerson. Of the record, he says; “I’m beyond stoked to have my first full length album out and available for pre-order! The support from my fans is what has brought me this far. The Yours EP has changed my life and I cannot wait to see what the Yours album will bring!” It’s a summer of firsts for Dickerson. On the heels of his first national TV appearance on The Bachelorette, that aired on June 19th, he made his morning show debut taking his single ‘Yours’ to the Today show on July 10th. You can watch the full performance HERE. Since wrapping the Home Team Tour with Thomas Rhett in April, announcing that he will be a special guest on Florida Georgia Line’s Smooth Tour in September alongside Nelly and Chris Lane, and now, with his forthcoming full-length debut album, Dickerson is gearing up for his most massive moment yet. ‘YOURS’ TRACKLISTING Every Little Thing Yours Blue Tacoma Billions All Fall Down Float MGNO Would You Love Me Low Key You Look Like A Love Song Twentysomething Yours (Wedding Edition)

Kenny Chesney Talks About “No Shoes Nation” Live Album

Kenny Chesney on Country Music News

Our favorite poet and pirate Kenny Chesney wasn’t intending to make a live album when he started recording his shows in 2007. He just knew there were so many special, magic nights and he wanted the tapes to remember them. And then when he finished his Spread the Love 2018 Tour, the man The Wall Street Journal deemed “The King of the Road” decided to go back and listen to hear how these songs have evolved over the past 10 years. “Even more than the way the guys have found new spots inside the songs, the horns or the special guests,” Chesney marvels, “It was the sound of No Shoes Nation that really caught my ear. They were so loud, and they only got louder over the years. I guess I thought some of these songs would fade for people over time, but that wasn’t necessarily the case. Even more than that, hearing them really got me fired up. The energy No Shoes Nation brings is its own rocket fuel.” So, Kenny Chesney took those recordings into the studio and started really listening. The more he combed through the tapes, the more he knew his next project was going to be a live album –  something that captures not just the songs or the musicians, but the people who shared all those nights with the 8-time Entertainer of the Year. “In some cases, it was hard to decide,” says the songwriter/superstar from East Tennessee. “Every version of the song was better than the last one. I think I could’ve used so many different nights. ‘Anything But Mine’ was one of those songs: people were so hungry to sing it with us. At the end, we just let the whole song die – and let the audience take it. Some nights, I swear, they sound better than we do! “That’s the thing about these songs, to me. I may record them, and be on the radio with them, but night after night on that stage, No Shoes Nation shows me: those songs are theirs. They invest their life, and their loves, and their heartbreaks into what these songs are… And when they sing, ‘In the morning I’m leaving, making my way back to Cleveland…’ it could be anywhere. That’s not what matters; what matters is that summer love, the one they’ll never forget.” [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDkxwvyFbIA[/embedyt] Working hard to create a document that reflects that passion has consumed a great deal of Chesney’s year off. Laughing, he admits, “If you want to really miss being out there, rocking, listen to ten years of the greatest fans in the world day-after-day.” Between listening, comparing, mixing, and sequencing, the guy the Los Angeles Times called “The People’s Superstar” has unearthed some obscure jewels, found some alternative versions, and caught some special moments with good friends that were only for the night. Whether its stadium shows, pop-up bar gigs, amphitheaters, or the occasional beach takeover, No Shoes Nation was there celebrating their lives in his Continue reading Kenny Chesney Talks About “No Shoes Nation” Live Album

All About Kenny Chesney’s New Music Video “All The Pretty Girls”

Kenny Chesney Video for All The Pretty Girls on Country Music News Blog

It took a week’s planning and two days of shooting, but Jessica Martinez with her co-director Will Renner conjured a video that reflected the random nature of meeting that special someone during college break for Kenny Chesney’s  “All The Pretty Girls” music video contest. The pair of Belmont University students created a clip that was marked both by innocence and what felt like authenticity of that kind of summer love for the winning entry. “We thought the first day was only going to be five hours,” says Motion Picture major Martinez, 19, of the shoot. “But when we got started, we found some more creative things to do. We ended up shooting for 10 hours, with an hour for lunch.” The time spent shows. Tracing a group of girls – actual friends – having a day, but running into some boys and needing some money, the viewer watches the relationship between the lead girl and one of the boys evolve through house parties, bonfires, car rides, hiking and creek jumping. “Our vision was to capture the essence of a summer fling – just the feeling of freedom and having fun, not taking things too seriously,” Martinez says. “Because Will is from Virginia, he was able to get people he knows from high school (to be part of it), which made it really fun to shoot.” Martinez, who heard about the contest on the “Bobby Bones Show,” texted Renner with questions about editing software – and they decided to team up. Both have experience as PAs and low-tier jobs on student films, “but this was the first big project for both of us that was totally ours. It was such an incredible experience to do everything all the way from idea conception to editing.” “It’s cool seeing this creativity from college kids,” Chesney said after viewing the clip. “They understood how to build a storyline and narrative, and they bring a fresh eye to these moments. (Their clip)’s really sweet, and just what this kind of song needed. I’m as thrilled to be part of Jessica’s college education as I am to have her – and Will’s – creativity be a part of this song.” “All The Pretty Girls” will be World Premiered on CMT’s “Hot 20 Countdown” this Saturday, August 12. For film student Martinez and music business major Renner, it is the first step on a path that hopefully for her leads to directing films and for him owning his own production company. Chesney, who started playing for tips in college, understands the seeds of big dreams. “To create something at this level when you’re in college is a huge thing,” Chesney says. “In ‘the real world,’ this is the kind of accomplishment people look at. But I think what’s so great about their ‘All The Pretty Girls’ video is you can also see how they translate their hearts into the work. People will see this, and know what Jessica and Ryan are capable of.” Chesney’s been in creative Continue reading All About Kenny Chesney’s New Music Video “All The Pretty Girls”

Florida Georgia Line Official Video for “Smooth”

Florida Georgia Line on Country Music News Blog

Florida Georgia Line cruised into Las Vegas styling in a Caddy for their new “Smooth” music video, which premiered exclusively on ETonline.com today (7/31) and across Entertainment Tonight this week. Penned by Tyler Hubbard, Brian Kelley, Nicolle Galyon and Jordan Schmidt, “Smooth” is the fourth buzzworthy release from FGL’s chart-topping DIG YOUR ROOTS album (BMLG Records) and is now spinning on Country radio. The Superstar pair have been on a career hot-streak since their history-making “Cruise” introduced them to a global following. The lively “Smooth” video pays homage to those days and showcases Kelley’s directorial debut, alongside co-director TK McKamy. Following today’s launch, the cinematic excitement will be available across multiple media platforms. “I’m really excited about this ‘Smooth’ video; it’s my first time co-directing,” shared Kelley on set. “It’s been really cool to write the treatment and see this thing slowly come to life.” Acting the part of two stranded Old Camp Whiskey workers looking for a good time, Kelley and Hubbard quickly become a part of the ultimate “Sin City” bachelor party after “Elvis” and “Cat Daddy” (award-winning songwriter Craig Wiseman) offer them a ride-of-a-lifetime in a bubblegum pink Cadillac en route to the iconic A Little White Wedding Chapel. As the newly-tricked out Kelley and Hubbard prepare to be Cat Daddy’s “witnesses of love,” uncanny lookalikes of the superstar duo (“circa 2012,” according to Kelley) make sure the rambunctious crew are on time to the world-famous “Tunnel of Love” drive-thru. Little do the guys know, Cat Daddy’s future wife – Wiseman’s real-life wife, KK – is orchestrating their arrival from behind the scenes. “KK and Craig actually just renewed their vows,” Hubbard shared post-shoot. “Cat Daddy surprised her with an awesome custom-made diamond ring. It’s a really special moment here on set, so it was really cool to experience that.” From rolling down the glitzy Vegas strip and taking over a penthouse, to late-night grooving under fireworks in the electric “Neon Boneyard,” ETonline.com offers never-before-seen footage. Watch here. Hubbard added, “We’ve learned a lot of dance moves, had a great time – TK and BK, they crushed it. It’s been an amazing experience here in Vegas. It’s been a party.” FGL will keep the party going as they’re next slated to appear on ABC’s CMA Fest: The Music Event of Summer, airing August 16 at 8 p.m. ET. They’ll also be welcoming THE SMOOTH TOUR 2017 special guests, Pop idols Backstreet Boys, to Nashville for CMT Crossroads. Hot on the heels of hitting #1 with PLATINUM-certified “God, Your Mama, And Me,” they will trade-off on each other’s smash-hit songs for the must-see genre-jumping episode airing August 30 at 10 p.m. ET. FGL and Backstreet Boys, alongside Hip-Hop icon Nelly and breakout Country star Chris Lane, have one more SOLD-OUT stadium concert set for Chicago’s Wrigley Field on August 12 for a trifecta of capacity dates. Joel Madison Blount to Release “Our New Moon” September 29th

Hot off the press at CountryMusicNewsBlog.com!

Birmingham, AL-based Americana/folk singer-songwriter Joel Madison Blount is set to release his new album, Our New Moon, on September 29, 2017.  Merging the influence of Southern literary authors with a musical response to the rhythm and melody of life, Blount writes songs about the human experience, meant to offer hope and inspire the listener. The songs appearing on Our New Moon were written in response to the birth of Blount’s first child and represent a new beginning for his growing family, and a new phase of life for Blount and his artistic career. “A new moon marks the start of the first phase of Earth’s moon during the course of the lunar cycle,” says Blount, “and it also alludes to the mystery surrounding what we will encounter on our journey ahead, as neither are visible from our perspective.” Themes on the album wind their way through a time of sorrow and brokenness, but ultimately lead the listener to witness redemption and an outpouring of grace. “This is a record in favor of the quiet life,” Blount says about his forthcoming album, “best savored while winding down in the peace and calm of the evening.” Get a taste of Joel Madison Blount here: [embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XC8H955cPSo[/embedyt] Standout tracks on the album include “Beauty that Remains” (which calls upon the listener to reflect upon the beauty of life in spite of personal shortcomings and failures), “Arms Open Wide” (written as a letter to his son after learning he would become a father), and “Inner Monologue” (written as a response to fear and anxiety – with the refrain “just let it go” sung as a reminder for us to let go of the things we can’t control). Changing the way he usually approached the guitar, through the use of unfamiliar tunings, Blount challenged his songwriting sensibilities, breaking what had become rote in search of new perspectives. Limiting reliance on routine chord progressions allowed him to simplify song structures, discover new melodies, and focus on crafting more pointed lyrical content. He also invited others to collaborate with him in the studio, including producer Brian T. Murphy (The Lone Bellow, Sandra McCracken, Greg Holden, Drew & Ellie Holcomb), guitarist Josh Vigneulle, bassist Will Weir, and drummer Alex Hinson. Production in the studio was intentionally limited to a four-piece band in order to ensure the songs were presented in a simple, yet elegant manner. The album was mixed by Chris Steffen (Damien Rice, Beck, John Mayer, Joshua Radin) and mastered by Harris Newman. Our New Moon follows on the heels of his first full-length album, Taming the Wind, which released in early 2014, and two EPs (Joel Madison Blount in 2010 and I Believe in Love in 2011); Blount has pursued music professionally as a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and producer since 2010. In a previous life, Blount worked as a CPA in public accounting before refocusing his endeavors solely toward artistic pursuits. In addition to his work as a solo artist, Blount runs a music production studio Continue reading Joel Madison Blount to Release “Our New Moon” September 29th

When writing “Life’s About to Get Good,” Shania explains, “I was at home looking out at the ocean and I said to myself, ‘Here I am stuck in this past of negativity, but it’s so beautiful out. I’m not in the mood to write a ‘feeling-sorry-for-myself’ song.” The songwriter recognized that with all of the negative in life also comes the positive. “You can’t have the good without the bad. And that’s what the song ended up being about.” Shania is a five-time GRAMMY Award-winner and the reigning Queen of Country Pop. With more than 90 million albums sold worldwide and U.S. sales topping 34.5 million, Shania remains the top-selling female country artist of all time.
