Drew Cooper Teams up with Cody Canada son Dierks Canada for a soulful gritty Christmas track

Drew Cooper’s striking combination of country music grit sung with a deep-throated soulful timbre that hits like a sledgehammer has garnered him critical esteem, and a residency among the Texas music scene where your songwriting goods is your only true currency. After a 2-year gap since the release of his last album “White Horse,” Cooper returns with a special single release just ahead of his double album drop “This Life” in early 2022.

This Christmas season Cooper stuns listeners with his unique version of the holiday classic “Please Come Home For Christmas” in a performance that will undoubtedly take its place as a staple on the radio airwaves from now on.  The song was recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, CA, the same place where Cooper recorded his forthcoming album, and is produced and mixed by accomplished engineer John Lousteau (Foo Fighters, Iggy Pop and Joan Jett).

This stirring rendition features an all-star team of musicians including John Lousteau on drums/percussion, Carmine Rojas on bass (David Bowie, Julian Lennon, Rod Stewart), Martine Guigui on keyboards (Billy Gibbons, Christina Aguilera Lady Gaga, Peter Frampton), and rhythm/dueling guitar leads from Red Dirt music icon Cody Canada and his 16-year-old guitar shredding son, Dierks.  Elevating the entire song to ethereal levels is Laura Mace on backing vocals (backup singer for the Foo Fighters).  An accompanying fly-on-the-wall music video gives you VIP access to the studio and takes you directly into the inner circle in a must watch.

*Exclusive holiday packages are up for grabs on Cooper’s website and at live shows that include an autographed hard copy of the song, thermal shirt and a Drew Cooper Christmas ornament.  All proceeds will benefit Toys for Tots.

This being my first experience recording a Christmas song, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.  We went back to Studio 606 where we recorded my new album, so I felt right at home.  And having these incredible players join us went far above any expectations I had. Finding a new space in the song between the original version by Charles Brown and the Eagle’s version, and being able to make it our own was amazing.” –Drew Cooper

Drew is one of the most kind people I’ve met in 27 years of being in the biz. Big heart, big voice, big talented songwriter.  So honored to have been a part of this song with my kiddo, Dierks.  Another great artist with a huge, giving spirit.  Thanks brother.”-Cody Canada
