Flatland Cavalry has released the official music video for “Heartstrings,” giving the love song a six-minute visual companion. The video arrived October 14, following the October 2 release of Work of Heart – Heartstrings through Lost Highway.
Directed by Christopher Beyrooty and filmed in Nashville, the video begins in black and white before gradually introducing bursts of color. The treatment follows the song’s sense of falling in love and choosing to follow that feeling, even when other people have their doubts.
How “Heartstrings” came together
“‘Heartstrings’ came from a musical idea our pianist and multi-instrumentalist, Adam Gallegos, brought to the table,” frontman Cleto Cordero shares. “On one of our days off we got together alongside Reid and Jason and chased it down. To me, it sounded like a classic love song and brought forth the image of one following his heart, floating through a relationship on Cloud 9; not weary of naysayers claiming he’s “trippin.” If we’re to trip, tripping on heartstrings seems a noble way to fall.”
That explanation gives fans a useful window into the writing room: a musical idea from one band member grew through a day-off collaboration into a song about taking an emotional chance.
Five new songs on the deluxe edition
Work of Heart – Heartstrings expands Flatland Cavalry’s fifth studio album with five new tracks. The original Work of Heart arrived in March, with the deluxe release continuing the band’s current run of music.
The group has earned three consecutive ACM Group of the Year nominations and seven No. 1 singles at Texas Country Radio. Its country radio single “Never Comin’ Back” has also reached the Top 30, according to the release announcement.
