Oklahoma&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<&excl;--more-->&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Unbeknownst to some of my country-loving readers&comma; live rock and roll was my first love&period; It probably always will be&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">I have spent more than 20 years working around country music&period; However&comma; the louder corners of the live music world helped shape the <strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;whiskeychick&period;rocks">WhiskeyChick<&sol;a><&sol;strong> you know today&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Those are also the events I usually protect as personal time&period; Sometimes a girl needs to leave the media badge at home&comma; disappear into a crowd and enjoy a show without turning it into content&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Rocklahoma has always been one of those places for me&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">This year&comma; an opportunity to cover the festival practically fell into my lap&period; How could I resist when its 20th anniversary is happening right here in my Oklahoma backyard&quest;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<h2 class&equals;"wp-block-heading">Rocklahoma Is More Than a Lineup<&sol;h2>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Rocklahoma returns to Pryor from September 4–6&comma; 2026&comma; with a Thursday Night Throwdown kicking things off for campers on September 3&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">The anniversary lineup is enormous&period; country fans will find several familiar sounds hiding along the harder edge of Friday’s lineup&period; <strong>Dexter and the Moonrocks<&sol;strong> have built their following by smashing country storytelling into grunge-soaked rock&period; <strong>Black Stone Cherry<&sol;strong> brings the Southern-rock muscle&comma; while <strong>Tim Montana<&sol;strong> has spent years traveling between country&comma; outlaw music and heavy rock without asking permission from any genre gatekeeper&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Yelawolf&comma; Molly Hatchet and several other artists across the weekend also live somewhere along that country-rock-Southern-music fault line&period; But the lineup is only half the reason Rocklahoma matters&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<h2 class&equals;"wp-block-heading">The Campground Is Part of the Show<&sol;h2>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Modern concert tickets are expensive&period; Fans are being asked to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on a weekend away&period; At those prices&comma; hearing your favorite hits while watching the performance on a jumbo screen is no longer enough&period; It is a sprawling fan-built neighborhood filled with themed camps&comma; late-night jams&comma; booming sound systems&comma; homemade stages and friendships that have lasted for years&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">Campers have been known to bring everything from light bars and stripper poles to Jell-O shots and Jell-O wrestling&period; After the headliners finish&comma; you can wander the grounds and find an entirely different festival happening beyond the gates&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p class&equals;"wp-block-paragraph">This year&comma;
