Kix Brooks Promotes Boot Campaign

Kix Brooks Spokesperson for the Boot Campaign.

This week Kix Brooks, formerly one half of the remarkable duo Brooks and Dunn, is lending his celebrity to help the grassroots initiative of five Texas ladies who call themselves the Boot Girls. Brooks is trading in his regular cowboy boots for a pair of combat boots whose proceeds will go to charities which help military personnel and their families who are dealing with physical injuries and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The goal of the Boot Girls through their national Boot Campaign is to see one million Americans in a pair of the “give back” boots. The Boot Girls simply wanted to find a way they could honor and aid military personnel.

The campaign was originally launched in 2009, and other celebrity supporters include Dolly Parton, Troy Aiken, Texas Governor Rick Perry and others.

Brooks is currently the host of the syndicated radio show, American Country Countdown, and serves on the boards of Country Music Association and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital.
