Danielle Car Tours Elementary Schools to Help Support Literacy Danielle Car, who hit the country scene last year, just wrapped up a ten school tour storytelling for students in her native Detroit to support “March Is Reading Month“ in an effort to help promote literacy. Chely Wright Has Officially Announced Her Engagement! Chely Wright is letting the world know that she and girlfriend Lauren Bitzer are officially tying the knot! Bitzer is the development director for non-profit organization Faith In America and the two met working together for gay rights advocacy. “The freedom of being out and open about who I am allowed me to find and fall in love with Lauren, the most amazing woman I’ve ever known.” -Chely The wedding is set for August, and will be held on family property in Connecticut.

Memorial For Opry Star Mel McDaniel

Arrangements for Grand Ole Opry Star Mel McDaniel A memorial service, open to the public, will be held to honor Grand Ole Opry star Mel McDaniel Wednesday, April 13th, 2pm-4pm at the Grand Ole Opry House. Hailing from Tulsa, OK, Mel was known for hit singles like “Have a Dream on Me” and “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On” which was nominated for a Grammy. A member of the Opry since 1986, he performed regularly throughout the 90’s and 2000’s. His last performance was an all cast sing at the September 28th, 2010 reopening of the Opry House. McDaniel passed away at the age of 68 on March 31st in his in Hendersonville, TN from complications of lung cancer. He is survived by one daughter and one grandson. Kix Brooks Promotes Boot Campaign

Kix Brooks Spokesperson for the Boot Campaign. This week Kix Brooks, formerly one half of the remarkable duo Brooks and Dunn, is lending his celebrity to help the grassroots initiative of five Texas ladies who call themselves the Boot Girls. Brooks is trading in his regular cowboy boots for a pair of combat boots whose proceeds will go to charities which help military personnel and their families who are dealing with physical injuries and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). The goal of the Boot Girls through their national Boot Campaign is to see one million Americans in a pair of the “give back” boots. The Boot Girls simply wanted to find a way they could honor and aid military personnel. The campaign was originally launched in 2009, and other celebrity supporters include Dolly Parton, Troy Aiken, Texas Governor Rick Perry and others. Brooks is currently the host of the syndicated radio show, American Country Countdown, and serves on the boards of Country Music Association and Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. The Singing Bee Returns to CMT

New Season of The Singing Bee Premiers Friday! The family friendly, The Singing Bee, will be returning to CMT for another season this Friday, April 8th! Once again hosted by the hilarious Melissa Peterman, the show returns with plenty of laughs, entertainment and special guests! The season is jam packed with lots of fun including specially themed episodes featuring fan favorite boy bands competing for charities and special appearances by Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders from the CMT series: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team. Carrie Underwood Tonight’s Guest on Jay Leno! If you didn’t get enough of Carrie Underwood Sunday night on the ACMs, you’ve got yet another chance to see her! Carrie will be a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno this evening, along with easy-on-the-eyes Glee cast member, Matthew Morrison. Carrie is currently promoting the film Soul Surfer in which she plays a part. The film will be in theaters this Friday, April 8th. The Judds Release New Album

The Judds New Album Is Available In Stores Now! The Judds have a lot going on, including the release of their new compilation album, I Will Stand By You: The Essential Collection. The album includes twelve of the duos classics, as well as two new songs, “I Will Stand By You” and “Back Home” featuring Alison Krauss, which mark the first time Naomi and Wynonna have recorded together since 2004.
