Brad Paisley & Keith Urban’s “Start A Band” Added to CMA Nominee List

The CMA has announced that Brad Paisley & Keith Urban’s “Start A Band” was “inadvertently omitted” from the list of final nominees for “Musical Event Of The Year” at the 2009 CMA Awards. The omission occurred when transferring the information from the online ballot to the list of final nominees. “Start A Band” will be added to the final list and the other nominees will remain on the list in that category. CMA CEO Tammy Genovese said: “We take the integrity of the CMA Awards balloting very seriously. And when an oversight like this occurs we commit ourselves to a thorough review, thoughtful and immediate correction, and complete disclosure and accountability to the artists and our industry. I can assure CMA’s valued constituents that we have examined every detail of the ballot for other discrepancies and all other categories were correct as announced. We sincerely regret the omission of these two deserving artists from the list of nominees and apologize to Brad and Keith, and their representatives, for any confusion.” The additional nomination now gives Paisley a total of seven, the most of any artist nominated this year. Barbara Mandrell Inducted Into Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame

Barbara Mandrell, a true country music legend, becomes the first woman to be inducted into the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame. Barbara Mandrell, the “Sweetheart of Steel” has been honored by the International Steel Guitar Hall of Fame, who celebrated her induction this past Saturday. Miss Mandrell has been playing steel guitar since the tender age of ten, and appeared on The Johnny Cash Show at just 13! Canadian Country Music Week Starts Today!

Canadian Country Music Week will kick off today (9/10) in Vancouver, BC with a “New Artist Showcase” at the Congwriter’s Cafe. This year’s performers include Shane Chisolm, Jaida Dreyer and Darren McGinnis. Friday’s (9/11) activities include a keynote address by Nettwerk Music CEO Terry McBride, the Class of 2009 induction for the Canadian Country Music Hall of Honour and the All Star Band Awards. On Saturday(9/12), the industry brunch & awards and the 2009 FanFest will be held, featuring appearances by Johnny Reid, Jessie Farrell, Aaron Prittchett, Doc Walker, Terri Clark and more. 2009 CMA Award Complete Nomination List

The COUNTRY MUSIC ASSOCIATION has announced the final nominees in five categories for the 43rd ANNUAL CMA AWARDS.
