Katie Pruitt, Carter Faith, Tami Neilson, Valerie June, Patty Griffin, Ann Wilson and other guests also take part.

That range of performers gives the tribute room to connect Wynette’s catalog with listeners who know every word and those finding their way into it for the first time.

The songs behind the tribute

The announced repertoire includes “Stand By Your Man,” “I Don’t Wanna Play House” and “D-I-V-O-R-C-E,” alongside songs associated with Wynette’s memorable duets with George Jones. The broadcast presents a concert filmed earlier this year, rather than a new live event at the Ryman.

Wynette’s place in country music rests on more than a handful of familiar titles. Her songs gave complicated feelings a direct voice, and this gathering offers a chance to hear how artists from different corners of music approach that legacy.
