Americana Artist Chad Harvey Announces “Get A Leg Up” Out Sept 18

Americana heartland rock artist Chad Harvey follows the successful release of his Run From The Sound EP (March, 2020)—which made its way onto the Americana Top 100 chart—with today’s announcement of “Get A Leg Up,” his forthcoming single due out Friday, September 18 via Indie 500 Records

Produced by GRAMMY®-nominated producer Marc Johnson, the song—penned by John Mellencamp and released on his Whenever We Wanted (1991) album—came across Harvey at a young age. “Mellencamp’s Whenever We Wanted album is my favorite of his and ‘Get A Leg Up’ was the lead single,” says Harvey. “The record came out when I was a teenager and I loved it!”

Inspired by the stripped-down production and in-your-face guitar riffs, Harvey decided to take “Get A Leg Up” into another dimension by arranging it as a duet with female soul singer Alaina Renae. “I wanted to do something to make it different,” notes Harvey. “I thought to myself that this is a conversation between a girl and a guy. It was a fun project that came together very quickly, over a couple of weeks.” Renae, a powerful vocalist out of Indianapolis, Indiana, found her debut album, The Introduction, reaching #4 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Album Chart.

“I’m writing and performing the stories of my life—some truth, some lies, but all real American music,” says the expressive Harvey about his recent Run From The Sound EP. “I want people to come away from my shows thinking this is a roots rock guy that plays with the energy of a punk rock band.” That’s the edge fans can expect from his hard-hitting “Heyburn,” the project’s lead single that caught the ears of Americana Highways which raved: “with a Neo-classic rock style, Chad Harvey will hit you where your heartland vibes live.” American Songwriter backed that sentiment saying, “Harvey carries on the unique sounds that echo from the Heartland. He is a gifted writer with a natural tendency toward a Gibson 6-string and a warm Midwestern drawl that helps tell his stories.” To kick off the album’s promotional efforts, DittyTV partnered with Harvey on the project to debut the official music video for “Heyburn” and aired it on their show “The Curve.”
