No more Carrie in Canada!

Carrie Underwood’s new husband, Mike Fisher, trades out of Canada and into Nashville. News was released today that a certain Canadian hockey player, and husband of country superstar Carrie Underwood, was traded out of his Ottowa team and into the Nashville Predators. While the move makes sense for the couple, some hockey fans aren’t taking it lightly. Ottowa’s KISS FM has apparently banned Carrie’s music, citing that she “tempted him away from his hometown”. I’m sure it’s all in fun, but figured it’s worth sharing. For more, visit our friends over at NashvilleGab!

Real World meets American Idol in CMT’s new talent competition: CMT’s Next Superstar. American Idol and Dancing With The Stars executives team up to bring a reality-show format to a talent competition in CMT’s upcoming series “CMT’s Next Superstar“. The series will feature ten episodes in which contestants will live together and compete against each other in industry tasks such as video production, songwriting, performances, interviews and more. The series will air beginning this April so stay tuned! One of the reasons this show stands out from the rest is that it’s the only show where the contestants take an active role in deciding who’s in the band,” noted executive producer, Simon Lythgoe. “Whereas contestants must sing in different genres on other shows, this is all about Country music. Our contestants will turn some world renowned songs from other genres like Pop or Motown, pour their soul into it and make it Country. Past reality/talent competitions on CMT have brought us stars like Miranda Lambert and Steel Magnolia… let’s see what this one can fish out!

Miranda Lambert Faces Crazy Fan

Persistant Miranda Lambert fan harasses Ran right off the stage! I’ve always thought country music fans, and especially fans of Miranda Lambert, were a little more composed than the rest of the music-listening world. No crying teenagers or flinging bras. No stage jumpers or obsessive stalkers. Then I saw this video over at Kris Country’s site. [youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7PtHb9jQCtg] About halfway through you’ll see Miranda reacting to the constant badgering of a crazed fan, to the point that she just walks off stage at the end of the song… where has their dignity gone? And where was her security?
