Watch Now: Chase Rice – Three Chords and the Truth

Chase Rice News on Country Music News Blog

CHASE RICE PREMIERES MUSIC VIDEO FOR “THREE CHORDS & THE TRUTH”  ON CMT Releases Sophomore Album LAMBS & LIONS on Friday, November 17, Instant Grat Track “Eyes On You” Available Now On a front porch bolstered by cinder blocks and hope, North Carolina native Chase Rice gingerly demonstrated what a D-chord looks like to 8-year-old Nicholas Thompson. With crimped, tiny fingers and intense concentration, Thompson stared up at his musical mentor and smiled. The interaction and the moment of discovery demonstrates the power of music to change lives; a theme which is woven throughout Rice’s latest music video for “Three Chords & The Truth.” “This is the greatest day of my life,” exclaimed Thompson. And you believe it. Rice’s own music journey started with a $150 guitar, a family gift. “That cheap $150 guitar changed my life,” he shares. “There are people who love music and can’t afford a guitar. Music is everything for me. I can’t think of a better gift to give to someone else.” The music video, which was directed by Brian Lazzaro, was shot around Rice’s current coast-to-coast Lambs and Lions Tour, with footage from the road, on the bus, and on stage. “Three Chords & The Truth” captures the power of following a dream to Nashville and name-checks legends including Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, Merle Haggard, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. “I thought, we could do the same old crap that everybody’s doing, that I’ve done before, with this music video or we could do something bigger and more special and hopefully change a kid’s life and his family’s life, and that’s the route I wanted to go,” explains Rice of his decision to stray from the expected formula for the “Three Chords & The Truth” music video. The accompanying narrative explains how access to music can make a difference and follows Rice’s search for a fan to receive a prized guitar, a step up from the one that fueled his musical talent. Rice first met Thompson at a backstage photo op. The boy is struggling to fight hemophilia with injections and frequent trips to see doctors. He finds comfort in a pair of mint green headphones and a country music playlist that includes Rice. Rice has been one of country music’s most exciting figures since arriving in Nashville. He co-wrote Florida Georgia Line’s megahit Diamond certified “Cruise” and his 2014 major label debut album, Ignite the Night, opened at No. 1 and yielded two Top 5 hits with “Ready Set Roll” and “Gonna Wanna Tonight,” in addition to more than 900,000 in album sales. The 32-year-old singer/songwriter has had an eclectic life for inspiration, playing football at the University of North Carolina, serving as a NASCAR pit crew member, even a role on a season of “Survivor,” all before finding success as a singer/songwriter/entertainer. His unrivaled live show has led to numerous sold out tours, a slot performing on Kenny Chesney’s stadium tour stops in 2015, and to ESPN’s Marty Smith noting in that sense, “Rice is Continue reading Watch Now: Chase Rice – Three Chords and the Truth

Chase Rice To Release Lambs and Lions Sept 29th

Chase Rice News on Country Music News Blog

To say Chase Rice is ready to release new music is an understatement. Announced just weeks ago, the Tar Heel State native has inked a new label deal with Broken Bow Records, is putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming album, Lambs & Lions, and is now proud to announce its release date — September 29. Adding fuel to the fire he started with the release of his debut album, Ignite the Night, by bringing in producers Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, James Bay, Modest Mouse, Norah Jones), Ross Copperman (Dierks Bentley, Brett Eldredge, Keith Urban) and Mac McAnally (Jimmy Buffett, Sawyer Brown) to join Ignite the Night collaborator Chris DeStefano, Rice is expanding upon the reflective nuances found in his crowd-favorite “Carolina Can” with his sophomore 10-song collection. “Three Chords & The Truth,” available today, serves as the first taste of what’s to come from the music maverick. Written with Ross Copperman, Jon Nite and Rice, “Three Chords & The Truth” came out of one of Rice’s first co-writes after feeling the despair of a second failed single after feeling the success of two prior Top 5’s. “I’m not sure I’ll ever know the full reason why I had to struggle through two failed singles in a row after such an amazing start, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. God had my back the whole time, whether I knew it or not. Out of those failed singles I got ‘Three Chords & The Truth.’ I was fed up with trying; whether that was trying to be something I’m not, trying to make music that people said I should make or trying to make music I felt people wanted to hear. Instead I decided I’m going to make music that I needed to hear. When you go through tough times the truth always has a way of finding its way to you. This song was my truth. It’s the soul of my childhood, the songs that went along with it and the memories associated with those songs. It’s my heart waiting to be heard, and the songs that shaped it, especially in the third chorus,” divulges Rice. It’s Muscle Shoals to rock ‘n’ roll It’s a steel guitar that steals your soul It’s a country song that takes you home again “I’ve mentioned my soul previously. Now more than ever, I believe our soul, spirit and heart are what life’s all about. At times in my life I’ve lived with all three of them completely covered by darkness, then other times completely full of life. I do know that during those darker times there are a lot of things that can pull you out, but music is among the top on that list. A lyric or a melody can hit you the right way at the right time and completely turn your life around. So when I say ‘Steel guitar that steals your soul,’ I’m not throwing that lyric in lightly. No, I mean when a Continue reading Chase Rice To Release Lambs and Lions Sept 29th

CHASE RICE’S UPCOMING “PUB SHOWS” REMINISCENT OF EARLY DIVE BAR DAYS

The “dominating” performer and hit singer/songwriter will debut new songs from his forthcoming studio album for fans during a limited series of up-close, intimate shows in March From the moment he first picked up a guitar and started writing songs, Chase Rice knew that live shows would be the keystone of his music career. Having studied the mastery of entertainers like Blink 182, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church, Eminem and the Foo Fighters as a fan, Rice cut his own teeth as a performer playing every dive bar he could, sometimes playing to just a handful of people. The crowds have steadily grown over time as Rice has honed his craft, demanding as much of his audience as he does of himself and developing a uniquely unvarnished ability to connect with each and every person in the room when he takes the stage. Taste of Country calls Rice “a dominating presence in any room” and AXS notes that “he will have you hooked from the time you walk in the doors to the time you leave.” While his live show has evolved from dive bars and clubs to some of the country’s premiere festivals and stadiums, Rice fiercely guards that close connection with his fans and is revisiting his roots for a limited series of shows – aptly dubbed the “Pub Shows” after Rice’s own traveling backstage hang, “Pub 44” – bringing that intimate vibe to fans at select venues on March 23, 24 and 25. Get tickets to see Chase Rice from our partners at CountryMusicOnTour.com! “We’ve been touring nonstop for the past six years and have had the opportunity to play some of the biggest stages in the country, which has been incredible,” said Rice. “The fans have shown up and been there for us every day since the very beginning, so we wanted to do something for them and give them a different vibe and experience with some of these smaller shows. We’ve poured a lot into this album, and I can’t wait to get out there and share our new songs with fans face-to-face.” With his current single “Everybody We Know Does” climbing at country radio and a new studio album expected out this summer via Columbia Nashville / Dack Janiels Records, Rice is carefully curating a fresh set list for his upcoming live shows centered around the new music and will be giving fans the first listen to new songs starting in March. The inaugural Pub Shows will take place Thursday, March 23 at Brewhouse Music & Grill in Rome, Ga.; Friday, March 24 at Bluewater Bar & Grill in Valdosta, Ga and Saturday, March 25 at Dillinger’s in Americus, Ga. Tickets for the first three Pub Shows are available now.
