Rascal Flatts, a country trio known primarily for its pleasing harmony and Grammy-winning songcraft, is comprised of Gary LeVox, Jay Demarcus, and Joe Don Rooney. Cousins Demarcus and LeVox grew up in Columbus, OH, a town Demarcus eventually left in 1992 to pursue a material career in Nashville. Meanwhile, LeVox pursued his own musical success with a Christian ensemble; at the behest of his cousin, however, he also relocated to Nashville toward the decade’s end. Although LeVox quickly found work as the keyboardist for country star Chely Wright, he still found time to play local concerts with Demarcus. One night, the pair asked Oklahoma native Joe Don Rooney (who played guitar in Wright’s ensemble) to become a part of them while a Printer’s Alley gig in Nashville. A bond was rapidly formed, and the musicians abandoned their other duties in favor of forming Rascal Flatts in the late ’90s.

After landing a album deal with Lyric Street Records, Rascal Flatts recorded an eclectic mix of country and pop for the trio’s self-titled debut. The album arrived in 2000, and “Prayin’ for Daylight” became the group’s first smash single. Rascal Flatts ultimately sent four singles to the Top Ten before the band’s second album, Melt, appeared in October 2002. Co-produced by the bandmates themselves, Melt sold a million albums in eight weeks and yielded the band’s first number one country hit, “These Days.” By this time, Rascal Flatts had established themselves as a highly successful country act, with a particularly strong not long after among younger listeners (an elusive demographic to most country stars). A live album served as an amiable segue between Melt and 2004’s chart-topping Feels Like Today, at a time of Me and My Gang arrived in April 2006. Rascal Flatts’ 2007 release, Still Feels Good, enjoyed a similar reception, going platinum before the year’s end and yielding another number one hit, “Take Me There.” Unstoppable came in 2009.

Rascal Flatts Will Host Opry Year End Radio Special. Rascal Flatts will be hosting the 2011 Grand Ole Opry radio special, America’s Opry Weekend Year-End Special. It will be available to country radio both Christmas and New Year’s weekends, and will recap all of the hits and high points of 2011 in country music. They will be spinning all of these hits as well as live recordings from the Opry. Rascal Flatts Announce “Thaw Out 2012”! Rascal Flatts have announced their winter tour, “Thaw Out 2012“! Special guests Sara Evans and Hunter Hayes will be joining them on their 14 stop journey! It will kick off January 12 in Charleston, WV at the Civic Center Coliseum and end February 18 in E. Rutherford NJ at the Izod Center. Flatts wrapped up their summer tour, “Flatts Fest“, last month and critics agree that it was a hit! Vince Gill Invites Rascal Flatts to Join The Grand Ole Opry. During a performance at the Grand Ole Opry, Tuesday, September 27th, Rascal Flatts was surprised on stage by Vince Gill. Gill popped up between songs, and definitely took the boys, Gary Levox, Jay Demarcus, and Jon Don Rooney off guard! The boys of Rascal Flatts were even more surprised when they realized that Vince Gill was their to extend an invitation to join the iconic Opry! The reactions from all three are pretty priceless, and it is more than evident how much the invitation means to each of them. When Levox regained his composure and found his voice, he let the audience in attendance know that the invitation is more than just an invitation. “You know, we’ve gotten to do a lot of amazing things in our career like going to Iraq and visiting our soldiers, selling out arenas, and doing a lot of magnificent things that … you can’t even dream that big. But all three of us grew up listening to the Opry: Jay with his grandfather, me with my grandmother, and Jon Don with his entire family. You can’t even put into words what this means to us. When we first signed our record deal in 1999, our main goal was to play the Grand Ole Opry and someday be members of the Grand Ole Opry. Flatts Fest Tour Checklist 2011! Rascal Flatts‘ summer tour is going to be eventful to say the least! Not only will Justin Moore, Easton Corbin and Sara Evans be joining them on the road, venues will host action-packed afternoons. There will be a Flatts Fest Fan Zone hosted by Mossy Oak that will include a Rascal Flatts Museum. Inside they will have life-size cutouts and a prize wheel! You can’t miss the Flatts Fest Scavenger Hunt, just download a free app or use a wi-fi hotspot! Every person who participates will be entered to spin the prize wheel right before the show starts. A Karaoke Challenge will begin at 3:00pm the day of the show and the winner will get to go backstage to meet Rascal Flatts, see their winning performance on the jumbotron during the show, and will be entered for a chance to win the grand prize! Fans will vote and on their 23 show in September the winner will be announced and then get to record an album and open for a select Rascal Flatts show in 2012! Rascal Flatts Announce Brand New Summer Tour for 2011 Rascal Flatts have anounced their new summer tour for 2011, “Flatts Fest” which will kick off June 18th in Bristow, Virginia. So far, the show is set to run through September with a total of twenty-four dates and venues. The tour will include new production designs as well as a new set list. Also, to magnify the fun-filled atmosphere of the live concert experience, there will be pre-show festival and tailgating activities spread throughout the plaza and parking areas for all fans to participate in and make a whole day of it, including a mobile karaoke vehicle, carnival games, photo booths, putt putt golf, food vendors, and plenty of exciting contests. Rascal Flatts Airing Television Special on ABC Featuring Justin Bieber and Natasha Bedingfield Rascal Flatts has announced they will be featuring special guests Justin Bieber and Natasha Bedingfield on their ABC television special “Rascal Flatts: Nothing Like This Presented by JCPenney” set to air Saturday, March 12th 8pm ET. The television special will feature exclusive content including a never before seen clip and behind the scenes footage from the Flatts-Bieber collaboration video “That Should Be Me”, as well as a joint performance between Rascal Flatts and Natasha BedingField from the live taping of the special. The title of the special comes from Rascal Flatts’ most recent album, “Nothing Like This”, which debuted in November 2010. Since their musical debut in 2000, the band has become a fan favorite in the country music community while also receiving a substantial amount of notoriety from country music institutions including the CMA and ACM.

2011 Country Thunder Line-up – Twin Lakes, WI

Country Thunder has just announced their lineup for the Twin Lakes, WI music festival next summer! Kicking off the festival on Thursday, is 2010 CMA “Vocal Group of the Year” Lady Antebellum.
