Raisin’ Cain: A History of Cain’s Ballroom – Documentary

Cain’s Ballroom, a historic music venue in Tulsa, OK set to be the subject of an upcoming music documentary. Tulsa and Los Angeles filmmakers are working together to tell the story of the fabulous Cain’s Ballroom. Cain’s is a music venue that opened in 1924, and arguably has one of the richest legacies to share out of all still-standing venues in the United States. Once the stomping ground of legendary artists such as Bob Wills, The Sex Pistols, and thousands of other musicians, Cain’s Ballroom rivals even the most hallowed stages such as the Opry, or CBGB. Raisin’ Cain will explore the musical evolution of Oklahoma, and feature interviews with artists like Elvis Costello, Wanda Jackson, Junior Brown, Red Dirt Rangers, Hot Club of Cowtown, and surviving members of the Texas Playboys, among others. You can expect to see the film release in 2011, paired with the opening of the upcoming Cains Ballroom Museum. “Cain’s was the first place I ever heard live music,” Wittenberg said. “As a filmmaker, I started to think about making a documentary that would celebrate and inform music lovers around the world about this extraordinary venue. “This project is a way for us to say thanks for everything Cain’s means to us and the music fans of Oklahoma and for attracting world-renowned artists to Tulsa throughout the years.” “We’re a year and a half into this already. Cain’s should be in people’s vocabulary, like the Grand Ole Opry and CBGB,” he said. “This place has just as much history, if not more.” The project is still in the fundraising stages although much of the footage has already been shot. Carrie Underwood 2010 Fall Tour Dates

Carrie Underwood is back in action as she announces a stunning 47 fall tour dates to close out 2010! Carrie Underwood is heading back out on the road as she extends her 2010 Play On tour to 47 additional dates. Stops will include the legendary Hollywood Bowl and finish off in Calgary, Alberta. Adding a philanthropic element to the tour, Underwood will donate 36 cents of every ticket sold to Save the Children’s United States Programs. This initiative was inspired by the “36 cents” written in the lyrics of her album track “Change,” which addresses how even the smallest bit of spare change that one might have can add up to make a difference and help “change” the world. Special guests on the tour include Billy Currington, who is hot off the release of his new album “Enjoy Yourself” and Sons of Sylvia, who I personally believe will give Rascal Flatts a run for their money over the next few years.
