Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel and Life of Many Colors Museum Will Open September 29

Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel and Life of Many Colors Museum will open together in downtown Nashville on September 29, carrying forward two major projects she personally shaped before her death.

Parton’s team recently listed both destinations among the works that carried her approval. That makes the opening more than another ribbon cutting in Music City. It will give fans one of their first new opportunities to step inside a story Dolly intended to tell in her own voice.

Hotel stays begin September 14 ahead of the official grand opening.

Inside Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel

Created with Herschend, the 245-room SongTeller Hotel is billed as Dolly’s love letter to Nashville. The property includes guest rooms and suites, a café and two live entertainment venues.

Jolene’s sits on the top floor and will feature nightly performances from emerging Nashville singers and songwriters. Parton’s Live, located on the second floor, will focus on writers’ rounds, songwriter sessions and rising-artist showcases.

The early entertainment calendar keeps the family connection close. Dolly’s cousin Richie Owens is scheduled to perform September 16. Her niece Jada Star begins a twice-weekly artist residency September 17 and 19. A partnership with Leslie Fram’s FEMcountry will also spotlight women artists and songwriters through monthly performances.

Dolly’s Story, Told Through Her Eyes

Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum occupies more than 20,000 square feet on the hotel’s third floor. The experience begins with a recreation of the small Great Smoky Mountains cabin where she grew up and follows the people, places and decisions that carried her to worldwide fame.

Interactive exhibits, multimedia installations, personal stories and rarely seen artifacts will fill the museum. Footage recorded earlier this year allows Dolly herself to guide visitors through the story.

Her sister Rachel Parton George and niece Rebecca Seaver led the museum’s design and curation. The result is planned as the world’s largest single exhibition devoted to Dolly’s life and career.

Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel is located at 211 Commerce Street in Nashville. The museum has a separate entrance at 126 Third Avenue North.
