Nashville’s music community is rallying around longtime publishing executive Marc Driskill and his wife, Peggy, after a catastrophic accident severed his left hand at the wrist.
Driskill underwent approximately 10 hours of emergency surgery as a 12-person medical team reconstructed and reattached the hand. Early signs have been encouraging, with doctors detecting blood flow after the procedure.
He returned home September 6, but a long and uncertain recovery remains ahead. Doctors expect additional procedures involving skin grafting, bone repair and tendon reconstruction. It is not yet known how much function can be restored or when Driskill may return to work.
A Career Spent Supporting Nashville’s Songwriters
Driskill began his music industry career at ASCAP in 1998. His work eventually included leadership roles at ASCAP Nashville, Big Loud Shirt, Big Loud Bucks Administration and Sea Gayle Music.
He later helped FirstBank expand its music industry business and joined rights-management company Muserk in 2024. Across nearly three decades, his work has helped songwriters, publishers and creators navigate the business behind their music.
Marc and Peggy also own Black Dog Pub & Music Lounge in Franklin, Tennessee. They built the venue as a neighborhood gathering place where songwriters and musicians could be heard and supported.
“He has helped a lot of people during his career, often in ways most people would never know about,” longtime friend and artist manager Robert Filhart said. “Right now, Marc and Peggy are the ones who need us.”

Friends have created a GoFundMe campaign to help cover lost income, medical costs, rehabilitation expenses and the broader financial uncertainty surrounding his recovery.
