Happy Birthday To The Late Waylon Jennings!
Today, June 15, is the late Waylon Jennings’ birthday! It is hard to believe that it has been 9 years since the country outlaw left this earth after battling diabetes. He had an amazing career with many albums and collaborations. The Dukes Of Hazzard would not have been what it was, in my opinion, without him. His work with friends Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Johnny Cash in the Highwaymen Tour was a monumental occasion that solidified the impact the men had on America. Throughout his career he gave us “Only Daddy That’ll Walk The Line“, “Good Hearted Woman“, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys“, “I’m A Ramblin’ Man“, “Drinkin’ and Dreamin’“, “Luckenbach Texas (Basics Of Love)”, along with many others. He was a hero to many artists today, including Eric Church and Josh Thompson who both have songs that were inspired by him, “Lotta Boot Left To Fill” and “Blame It On Waylon“. His son, Shooter Jennings, followed in his father’s musical footsteps and has made a name for himself as well. Jennings left behind tons of loved ones and a legacy that will never be forgotten!
Here is the late Johnny Cash sharing with us the reason behind “Are You Sure Hank Done It This Way”…
