You could hear the collective sigh of the entire No Shoe Nation when Kenny Chesney announced that he was taking 2017 off from touring, so it’s no wonder we’re all waiting with baited breath for his team to announce if and when he will finally get back on the road. We’ve been doing our part here at CountryMusicOnTour.com to answer that very question:
When will Kenny Chesney go back on tour?
According to CMTCody, Kenny is confirmed to have plans to tour in 2018. Quoting an interview from Rolling Stone, Cody pointed out this piece:
“I’m pretty sure we’re going to do a big tour in 2018 and you just can’t wait until February of 2018 to set that up. The second half of the year I’ll be mentally busy prepping for ‘18, but the first half I’m going to be doing some shows and I’m hoping to be creative in some way.”
Kenny adds he’s always had “a pretty good finger on the pulse of when to hit it hard and when to back away a little bit” from touring and that he’ll also “want to pull the guitar out of the case” sooner rather than later.
Now while no official announcement has been made yet for a 2018 Kenny Chesney World Tour, the clock is ticking. With award season right around the corner it’s prime time for tour release details and the big players are all in a hurry to get their tour schedules locked down and released to the public first. On stage they’re all friends, but in the box office it’s every entertainer for themselves.
So far the rumormill has given us this: Kenny Chesney’s 2018 tour will be named the “Trip Around the Sun Tour”, most likely named after the Jimmy Buffett & Martina McBride duet from 2009. Dates we’ve fished out so far include:
- April 21st – Raymond James Stadium – Tampa, FL
- June 2nd – Heinz Field – Pittsburgh, PA
- June 9th – Lincoln Financial Field – Philadelphia, PA
- June 30th – Sports Authority Field – Denver, CO
- July 14th – Arrowhead Stadium – Kansas City, MO
- August 4th – Nissan Stadium – Nashville, TN
These are just a handful of dates that we could verify. Our sources state that there are over 50 tour stops waiting to be announced.

In the meantime you can get your fix of that Kenny Chesney live experience on his upcoming album release featuring live recordings of the No Shoes Nation, expected to hit stores and digital retailers October 27th.
