The Country Music Community Rallies Around Celebrated Songwriter

The country music community is showing overwhelming support for Nashville Songwriters’ Hall of Famer Hugh Prestwood – who has written for big names like Randy Travis, Trisha Yearwood, and The Judds – after he started a GoFundMe, revealing that he and his wife may soon become homeless.

Hugh wrote: “A few decades ago I was a somewhat accomplished Nashville songwriter, and my wife Judy was a somewhat accomplished photojournalist, but much has changed, and recently we have been hit with some very bad luck … Simply put, unless we get some help, we are three months away from having no place to live, i.e. becoming homeless.” Per the fundraiser, Hugh and Judy are packing up their Long Island home and moving to Texas.

The GoFundMe received a boost when Randy Travis shared the link on his social media (Facebook post https://bit.ly/33IQg7R).

This GoFundMe is verified and donations will go directly to Hugh Prestwood.
