Tracy Lawrence’s Mission:Possible Turkey Fry returns to the Nashville Fairgrounds on November 24 for its 21st year, with plans to help feed 32,000 people in need. Organizers aim to prepare 2,000 cooked turkeys and distribute another 2,000 frozen turkeys through local partners.

The Nashville Rescue Mission, 11 surrounding county school systems, and community organizations will help get the food to people across Middle Tennessee. The announcement also opens the door for volunteers, donors, and sponsors who want to take part.
Helping without judgment
“There are two things in this scenario that continue to resonate with me,” said Lawrence. “The first is the people in need. Every year, that need continues to grow. Whatever circumstances have brought these individuals to this point are not for me or anyone else to judge. I believe we are all called to help and do whatever we can to ease their suffering, even if only for a little while, without judgment or condemnation. The second is to always acknowledge the volunteers that give their time and money to organizations like ours.”
A community response worth carrying forward
Last year’s 20th anniversary event faced a major setback when a refrigerated truck broke down, spoiling 650 turkeys. The community responded with more than 2,400 additional donated turkeys. Organizers ultimately distributed 5,350 cooked and frozen turkeys, helping provide more than 50,000 meals.
This year’s goal is a separate target, with 4,000 turkeys planned for distribution. The effort is supported by partners including Honeysuckle White, Operation BBQ Relief, Blue Rhino, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, and ACM Lifting Lives.
Since it began, Mission:Possible has fried more than 15,000 turkeys, provided over 135,000 meals, and donated more than $1.3 million to Nashville Rescue Mission. The organization reports more than $2.5 million raised overall to support its work.
