Carrie Underwood's Rainbow BabyThe first country vocalist to win American Idol, Carrie Underwood grew up in the small town of Checotah, OK, and started singing with her church at the tender age of three. Throughout her childhood, she also performed at functions for the Lion’s Club and Old Settlers Day, eventually grading to festival gigs in several states. Along with developing her singing, Underwood learned to play guitar and piano. She graduated from high school as her class salutatorian and majored in mass communication at Northeastern State College with an eye on a career in broadcast journalism, but continued her singing career throughout her studies.

As a senior just a few credits short of her degree, Underwood heard about the auditions for the 2005 season of American Idol. She attempted out for the show at the St. Louis, MO, auditions, and her innocent charm and pure, pretty voice ended up winning her not only a place among the 12 finalists, but the title of 2005’s American Idol. Her debut single, Inside Your Heaven, was released that summer, and she started recording her debut record after completing the American Idols Live! tour. Some Hearts was put forth later that fall and became a smash hit, selling over 300,000 copies in its first week and eventually going platinum a whopping seven times. The album’s lead single, “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” was also a big success, topping Billboard’s Hot Country material chart for six weeks.

Carrie Underwood emerged from the promise of her 2005 American Idol win to become a true multi-format, multi-media superstar, spanning achievements in music, television, film, and as a New York Times bestselling author and successful entrepreneur.  She has sold more than 64 million records worldwide, recorded 27 #1 singles (14 of which she co-wrote), and has seven albums that are certified Platinum or Multi-Platinum by the RIAA, all while continuing to sell out arena tours across North America and the UK.

In September, Carrie released her eighth album, My Gift, her first-ever Christmas album, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Country, Christian and Holiday charts in its first week and marked her eighth straight release to debut at #1 on the Billboard Country chart. My Gift also debuted #1 on the UK country chart (her fifth #1 on the chart) and #1 on the Canadian country chart. Additionally, HBO Max began streaming “My Gift: A Christmas Special From Carrie Underwood” in December, an exclusive, all-new musical holiday special, with Carrie performing songs from My Gift with a full orchestra and choir.  She recently announced her next album, My Savior, which will feature beloved gospel hymns and will be released around the Easter holiday.  She starred as Maria von Trapp in NBC’s Emmy®-winning blockbuster, The Sound of Music Live!, hosted the CMA Awards for 12 consecutive years and returned last Fall for her eighth season as the voice of primetime television’s #1 program, NBC’s Sunday Night Football.

Underwood has won over 100 major awards including 7 GRAMMY® Awards, 15 ACM Awards including three for Entertainer of the Year (the first female in history to win twice and, as of 2020, the only female ever to win three times), 22 CMT Music Awards where she continues to hold the record for the most award wins ever for the show, 7 CMA Awards, and 15 American Music Awards with her 7th win for Favorite Female Artist – Country and 6th win for Favorite Country Album for Cry Pretty, breaking the AMA record for Most Wins in the Favorite Country Album Category. Carrie is a proud member of the Grand Ole Opry and is the most followed country artist on Instagram and most followed female country artist on Twitter, Facebook and TikTok.

Carrie Underwood Crew Member Killed

Carrie Underwood crew member dies after his truck careens off an embankment. Source: www.countrymusicfever.com A truck driver working as part of Carrie Underwood’s crew for her Play On tour was killed this morning in a fatal truck accident on I-95 on the way to her show at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods in Mashantucket, CT‎. The driver was carrying parts of Carrie’s staging when the truck careened off of the highway and plummeted down an embankment before bursting into flames. Reports say that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel while driving. The highway was closed off for many hours today as the wreckage was cleaned up. The show will however, go on as scheduled tonight according to a Foxwoods representative. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the truck driver, as well as Carrie and the rest of her crew.Country Music Photo Gallery

Carrie Underwood: Play on Tour

Carrie Underwood’s Play on Tour to begin on March 11th in Reading, Pennsylvania. Carrie Underwood has added several more tour dates in June to her Play on Tour. Craig Morgan and Sons of Sylvia will open the shows. Underwood’s team just wrapped set creation and stage production rehearsal in Mobile, AL this last weekend. Sources say the two week project brought over one million dollars of revenue to the town. Kudos to team Underwood for bringing some much needed money to the community.Country Music Photo Gallery

Congratulations to Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher who are officially engaged! Mike Fisher confirmed his engagement to Carrie Underwood in a comment to the Ottowa Citizen, stating: “It’s true,” Fisher said. “We’re both obviously excited and very happy and so, exciting times for sure.” No wedding date has been set yet, but the couple is reported to be extremely excited and very much in love. Carrie Underwood Receives Harmony Award

Carrie Underwood received the 2009 Harmony Award at the Symphony Ball this past Saturday night, December 12, at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center.  The Nashville Symphony Ball is Nashville’s premiere winter social event, a white-tie, invitation-only evening benefiting the Nashville Symphony and its music outreach programs. This year marked the event’s 25th anniversary. “The honor is a wonderful compliment and it’s an amazing feeling being part of the Nashville community,” said Underwood. “It was a beautiful evening filled with wonderful music, gorgeous ball gowns and décor, and was definitely an evening to remember.” The Harmony Award is presented annually at Nashville’s Symphony Ball to individuals who have demonstrated continued interest and support of music in Nashville. The recipients exemplify the unique harmony between the many worlds of music that exist in our city and have contributed significantly to the development and appreciation of Nashville’s musical culture. Over 8 Million Viewers Bored to Death by Carrie Underwood

Carrie Underwood’s All Star Holiday Special falls flat with fans The reports are in and it looks like Carrie Underwood’s All Star Holiday Special was viewed by over 8.9MILLION people. Sadly, the reviews are in, and it looks like the majority of those people were either bored to death or sadly disappointed.Here are just some of the comments that have reached either my site or the official Carrie Underwood site: “Worst show I ever saw. She has a great voice. I wish she would just sing and leave all the other BS out of it. Who cares about her dog and her sister that can’t get a date.” “I was very disappointed, her first performance with Carrie in black leather singing one of her own songs was anything but holiday. I tuned in because I thought it would be like they used to be different artist performing their favorite Christmas songs. And the attempt at humor was very, very bad, I had to change the channel. Sorry!” “I watched the Christmas Show last night ! Carrie, where is your Christmas spirit ! It was all about you and your sister finding a date! Your poor mom should be embarrassed singing off key! I think you have way more friends in the industry of Country music to have filled spots that you used for promotion of yourself. I was expecting a Christmas Special ! Carrie Underwood will be hosting her own holiday special Dec 7th on Fox! Carrie Underwood has announced that she will be hosting her own variety  show December 7th on Fox (8/7c). The two hour special will feature Carrie performing songs from her new album “Play On” as well as some holiday classics.
