Country Grammy Winners 2012

Complete List Of Country Wins at 2012 Grammy Awards! Another awards show has come and gone! The 2012 Grammy Awards provided quite a bit of visual interest from what was being worn on the red carpet to the strange sightings of who was sitting next to whom (we took special note of a photo featuring Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert seated next to Lady Gaga). There were a couple good performances, but nothing really surprising going on as far as winners are concerned. Taylor Swift dominated the country categories, and The Civil Wars received quite a bit of attention as well. I really wanted Zac Brown Band to win for “Where The River Goes” (From Footloose) in the Best Song Written for Visual Media category, but no such luck. Also, we were pretty excited about The Band Perry’s New Artist nomination, but they were passed up by another artist. Oh well, we know how amazing they all are! You can see the complete list of Country, Folk, Bluegrass and Americana winners below. Be sure to let us know what you think about this year’s winners! Complete List of 2012 Country, Bluegrass, Americana Grammy Winners Best Solo Country Performance Taylor Swift, “Mean” Best Country Duo/Group Performance The Civil Wars, “Barton Hollow” Best Country Song “Mean“, Taylor Swift Best Country Album Own The Night, Lady Antebellum Best Americana Album Ramble at the Ryman, Levon Helm Best Bluegrass Album Paper Airplane, Allison Krauss & Union Station Best Folk Album Barton Hallow, The Civil Wars

Glen Campbell Grammy Performance

Glen Campbell Joined by Black Shelton and The Band Perry for Grammy Performance. Glen Campbell will be joined by Blake Shelton and The Band Perry for a special performance at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. After Campbell was awkwardly cut off after being pulled onstage during a tribute performance at the 2011 CMA Awards, its good to see that he’s being given another chance to get back on stage. Glen has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, and is currently in the midst of his farewell tour which will run until the end of June this year. The 2012 Grammy Awards air LIVE on CBS on Sunday, February 12th. Other country artists expected to perform include Taylor Swift and Jason Aldean with Kelly Clarkson.

Country Grammy Nominations

2012 Country Grammy Nominations Announced! We are just finishing up this year’s award cycle, and those for 2012 are already gearing up. Last week, the nominations for the 54th Grammy Awards were announced, and we have a complete list of the Country, Bluegrass and Americana artists receiving recognition. I am not particularly surprised that the nominations are dominated by this year’s usual suspects, Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift, Jason Aldean and Kenny Chesney. It is good to see Eric Church in the running for best country album for Chief, and I have no doubt country fans will be pleased that George Strait is recognized for his album, Here For A Good Time. I find it strange that of all of Taylor Swift’s singles, “Mean” was chosen for nomination in both “Best Country Solo Performance” and “Best Song”. I enjoy many of Taylor’s songs, but that is not the most country song on her Speak Now album. It is just a little odd that it popped up in two categories. Also, I am pleased that country artists are being recognized outside of the genre categories as well. The Band Perry is up against several artists from multiple genres in the “Best New Artist” category, and Zac Brown is receiving deserved attention for his original work on the Footloose soundtrack. The 54th Annual Grammy Awards will be held on “Grammy Sunday“, February 12, 2012, at Staples Center in Los Angeles and once again will be broadcast live on CBS from 8 – 11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). Take a look at the list below, and tell us who you think deserves to win! Is anyone missing from the nominations? Tell us that too!
