Growing up in a nonmusical family in Phoenix, AZ, country vocalist Dierks Bentley got his country music education on his own, listening to recordings. A love of the material inspired him to move to Nashville at the age of 19, but he quickly grew discouraged by the lack of public and professional interest coming his way. It all changed when he walked into the Station Inn, a bar where the bluegrass faithful hang out. An all-night jam session recharged his batteries and he restarted pursuing bookings. He landed a job at the TNN tv network doing research on classic country songs and by night he worked on his demos. Capitol Records heard the artist, signed him, and gave us his self-titled debut, Dierks Bentley, in 2003, which yielded the impossibly catchy single “What Was I Thinkin'”. Bringing his love of Merle Haggard and Waylon Jennings more to the forefront, Modern Day Drifter followed two years later and became a Top Ten hit. In 2006 he came back with Long Trip Alone, a more polished effort that was commercial but not crass. Greatest Hits: Every Mile a Memory arrived in 2008, a bit early in his career for that, perhaps, but it did contain his key charting singles and added in fan-selected live tracks as a bonus, making it a nice summation of Bentley’s work to date. A new album, Feel That Fire, was gave us in early 2009.

President Obama Includes Favorite Country Hits In Campaign Playlist. Having honored country music recently at Country Music: In Performance at the White House, we already knew that President Obama was a fan of our favorite genre. But we didn’t know just how much of a fan! His team recently released his official campaign playlist for the 2012 election and it turns out country music hits round out 1/4 of the songs on the list! Dierks Bentley’s Upcoming Album Home Available for Pre-Order, Track Listing Now Available! Dierks Bentley‘s upcoming album, Home, is officially available for pre-order for fans! Already released off this album are the title track, “Home“, and the summer party hit, “Am I The Only One“. If either of these are any indication of what the rest of the album will be like, fans have a lot to look forward. Between these two tracks alone Bentley shows off his ability to have a little fun but also be more serious when its appropriate. Country Artists Featured in PBS Special, Country Music: In Performance at the White House. Some of country’s most popular artists are performing at the White House! In a special event, Country Music: In Performance at the White House, hosted by President Obama and Mrs. Obama, these country artists, inlcuding, Dierks Bentley, Lauren Alaina, Lyle Lovett, Alison Krauss, The Band Perry, Kris Kristofferson, Darius Rucker, James Taylor and Capital Records newcomer Mickey, come together to celebrate the rich history of country music which has evolved with America through the years. These performers pay tribute to country music, and some of its most iconic figures through music of their own as well as classic hits. The event was taped Monday, November 21st and will air on PBS on Wednesday, November 23rd at 8pm ET. You can find a complete list of the songs and performers below. I have to say the two performances which interest me the most are Alison Krauss’ rendition of “When You Say Nothing At All” and Dierks Bentley and Lauren Alaina teaming up to sing “Always On My Mind“. Details On Dierks Bentley New Album Release. Dierks Bentley has announced that his sixth studio album, Home, will release February 7th, 2012. The album title shares its name with Bentley’s current and popular single. This concept of “home” and its meaning clearly have a special hold on Dierks. “My home is in Nashville with my family, my home is on the road with our fans and my home is definitely in country music…This album is more than a year’s worth of writing, recording and testing out material on the road in front of our hard core fans. The end result is an album that runs through all the types of country songs and sounds I enjoy singing and playing.” -Dierks Bentley Also on this album, you can find his hit track “Am I The Only One“. Dierks will be celebrating the album release with a special performance at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville on February 2nd. Dierks Bentley’s 6th Annual Miles & Music for Kids Happening October 16th! The 6th Annual Miles & Music for Kids hosted by Dierks Bentley is taking place on October 16th! This charity event is an hour long motorcycle ride that includes a live performance at the end of the road! The ride will start at the Harley-Davidson of Columbia, wind through the back roads of Tennessee, and end in downtown Nashville. “The back roads are great. But the coolest part of the whole ride is going down Hillsboro Road and not having to stop one time going through Green Hills.” -Dierks Bentley After this uninterrupted journey through Tennessee back roads, Bentley will be joined by Eli Young Band, Josh Thompson and Colt Ford at the Riverfront Park for a live performance! Bentley has opted to expand the benefit to include other cities besides Nashville, like Chicago, Phoenix, Atlanta, Seattle and others. All the proceeds raised in each are donated to the children’s hospital in that area. For Nashville this hospital is the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt. Tickets include the ride, concert and a T-shirt and run for $50. For those who only wish to attend the concert, tickets are $20. All tickets are available through Ticketmaster.

Dierks Bentley and Little Big Town Added to CMA Special

Dierks Bentley and Little Big Town Will Perform on TV Special of the CMA Music Festival Dierks Bentley and Little Big Town have been added to the performance line-up of the 2011 CMA Music Festival TV Special, better known as “Country’s Night to Rock!“. They are joining an already impressive line-up which includes Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Reba, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, and Zac Brown! The show will air on ABC on August 7th at 8pm (ET). The special includes footage filmed during this year’s CMA Music Festival in Nashville, TN during June 9th and June 12th in addition to the performances listed above. It’s sure to be a rockin’ country event, so don’t miss it!
