Taylor Swift – Speak Now

Taylor Swift announces new album Speak Now! In her live chat today, country superstar Taylor Swift announced news her fans have been waiting 2 years for. Taylor will be releasing a new album, titled “Speak Now”this coming October 25th, 2010 worldwide. The album will feature 14 songs, and is a concept piece that centers around the idea that you should tell people how you feel when you have the chance. “That pertains to the album as a concept, and an entire theme of the record, more than I can even tell you. I’ve been working on it for two years ever since we came out with Fearless I’ve been working on this album and what I want to put in it and how I want it to be. For me I write a lot about what I live so you have to give yourself a little time to live a little so you have something to write about A lot of things I wanted to say in the moment and in life you have a lot of situations and people that pop up and come at you in life and a lot of times you don’t get to tell them what you want in person.” Taylor will also begin touring in the late fall and early spring to support the album. She even made mention of touring internationally. We can expect to hear the first single off the album in mid-August. The lead single “Mine” was recently shot in Portland Maine, which Taylor absolutely loved. “Mine” is a song that is about kind of my tendency to run from love.. I think it’s because for me, every direct real example of love for me has ended in goodbye and breakups… this song is sort of about finding the exception to that and finding someone who can make you believe in love… I’m never going to go past believing that love can work out. We shot the video for “Mine” in Maine so you may have seen pictures of that online… When I am old and have silver hair… I want to live in Maine and have a house and make necklaces and have a lot of cats” Today’s live chat brought a total of well over 60,000 simultaneous viewers, with over 4,000 interactively chatting during the broadcast. It was a fantastic example of how new media technology like USTREAM helps artists reach their fans one-on-one.Country Music Photo Gallery

A Taylor-Free Award Show?

In a spectacular ACM Awards Show tonight, one thing was blaringly clear: Taylor Swift is NOT an industry darling anymore! Taylor Swift may have performed during tonight’s Academy of Country Music awards show, but that’s the only stage time she’d get as the peer-voted industry award show shunned the pop princess. Miranda Lambert walked away with 3 awards including Top Female Vocalist and Album of the Year, Carrie Underwood takes away Entertainer of the Year for the second year straight, and Taylor… well Taylor’s probably counting the days till the next fan-voted awards show so millions of texting teens can keep her thanking Mom and God with her shaking hands and ever-surprised face. So what led to this lack of industry peer votes for team Taylor? Perhaps over-saturation? Much like the Hannah Montana craze, have many grown adults heard Taylor’s tunes courtesy of their little girls radios so often that they are now on absolute burnout? Perhaps. Or perhaps, and far more likely, Taylor has been outdone by pure talent. With such a rock-solid performance of “The House That Built Me” from Miranda Lambert, the flaws in Taylor’s live vocals were painfully clear. Add to it the almost too-technically-perfect Carrie Underwood, and the timelessly amazing Reba McEntire all on the same show, and suddenly Taylor is looking more like the little kid they let in for fun. I KNOW I’ll get a ton of hateful comments, but please, just for one minute, do the math and open your mind to the idea that the perfect princess may not be so perfect after all.Country Music Photo Gallery
