Ashton Shepherd Look It Up Video

A Closer Look At Ashton Shepherd’s Sassy Single. Yesterday we congratulated Ashton Shepherd on the arrival of her second child, and this got me thinking a little bit about all that Ashton has going on right now. Just this summer, July 12th to be exact, she released her second album, Where Country Grows, a follow up to her 2008 album, Sounds So Good. Shepherd currently has two singles circulating off of Where Country Grows, including the title track and her sassy break-up song “Look It Up“. Even just by looking at these two upbeat singles, it is easy to see Ashton’s versatility and talent. While “Where Country Grows” is an optimistic reflection on what it means to be country, “Look It Up” is more of country in action, as it is full of that feisty, strong-willed, do-not-mess-with-me attitude that is the hallmark of country women everywhere. “Where Country Grows” is a beautiful song, but of the two, I have to say “Look It Up” is my favorite. This single manages to demonstrate a positive image of female empowerment while also being funny. “Look It Up” also has a great video to go along with it’s clever lyrics, and I love it! I love it enough, that I decided to share it with you! Now, this video has been out for a little while, so you may have already had a chance to check it out. In case you haven’t though, here it is. If you haven’t seen it already, check out the video for “Look It Up” now! [youtube:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1kT4u_D5PA&ob=av2e]

At the moment Frankfort, KY is in the lead with 328 people, but the competition has cities all over the country vying for the win. New York, Pittsburgh, Seattle, San Diego, Little Rock, Phoenix, Minneapolis, and Tuscaloosa are just a few on the list and with the ballot closing June 30, I’d say anywhere has a good shot! To better your chances get on facebook, twitter, the phone, or send a letter, just get the word out! Shepherd currently has a single, “Look It Up“, sitting in the Top 20 on the Billboard country charts. When she sings you instantly know it is her, she has this twang that is unmistakable. Her single “Takin’ Off This Pain” from her first album, Sounds So Good, showed us what the artist is all about. “I’ve got a cold beer in my right hand, in my left I got my weddin’ band” was a fast anthem for woman who were over the “BS” everywhere. The Wall Street Journal has called her “a potential Loretta Lynn for a new generation” and we agree! So if you want a once in a lifetime chance to see here do her thing then go vote!

Ashton Shepherd “I’m Just A Woman” Video

Ashton Shepherd Shares Special Mother’s Day Video. Ashton Shepherd is offering a special acoustic version of “I’m Just A Woman” to honor Mother’s Day. It is clearly a song for women, taking a perspective on the challenges in life that are particularly unique to them. Ashton especially has insight into this perspective as she is a mother herself with a 5-year old son and her second child due in September! (Congrats, Ashton!). “I wrote that one by myself. I opened my diary, and I got to an entry where I was writing about feeling kind of bad, empty and sad. Right after that, I’d written, ‘Well, I guess I’m just being a woman.’ When I read that, I underlined it…The song doesn’t bash the man. It’s kind of saying, ‘Buddy, I understand you pretty much 99 percent of the time. I need you to understand me, too, sometimes because I know I can be hard to deal with…I think it gives women a lot of credit. I think about our mommas…I feel like I’ve written an anthem for them.” -Ashton Shepherd “I’m Just A Woman” is featured on Ashton’s upcoming album, Where Country Grows, set to release July 12th.
