After winning the tenth season of American Idol at the age of 16, country crooner Scotty McCreery forged an impressive career throughout the 2010s. Beginning with his chart-topping 2011 debut, Clear as Day, the North Carolinian followed in the footsteps of fellow Idol winners Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson to become one of the more consistently successful artists to emerge from the show. Later releases like 2013’s See You Tonight and 2018’s Seasons Change increasingly featured more of McCreery‘s own songwriting and continued to dominate on the Billboard country charts. In 2020, almost a decade into his career, he issued the single “You Time.”

McCreery began singing as a child in Garner, North Carolina. School performances eventually gave way to local competitions, and McCreery won a singing contest in the nearby town of Clayton before trying out for American Idol as a 16-year-old. Auditioning with Josh Turner‘s “Your Man,” he made good use of his country twang and deep baritone vocals, prompting the judges to compare him to Randy Travis. McCreery passed the audition, became an audience favorite, and eventually won the competition in May 2011. Lauren Alaina, another teenage country singer and a close friend of McCreery‘s, took home the second place title.

McCreery‘s coronation song was “I Love You This Big,” a country ballad that sold nearly 175,000 copies during its first week of release. The song also cracked the country charts at number 32, making it the highest-charting debut single in country history, and helped stir up anticipation for his full-length album, which he recorded while preparing for American Idol’s summer tour. Clear as Day appeared in the fall of 2011 from Mercury Nashville, debuting at number one on the Billboard Top 200 the week of its release. It went on to be one of the better-selling latter-day Idol-related records, earning a platinum certification and producing another hit single in “The Trouble with Girls.” The following year, McCreery released the seasonal Christmas with Scotty McCreery in time for the 2012 holiday season.

In October 2013, he returned with his second official studio album, See You Tonight. Produced by veteran producer Frank Rogers, the album moved McCreery into bright contemporary country-pop. It was a commercial and critical success, debuting at number one on Billboard’s Country Albums chart and earning widespread acclaim, including McCreery‘s win of the Breakthrough Artist Award at the 2013 American Country Awards. In 2015 he issued a new single, “Southern Belle,” and toured with Rascal Flatts. The year 2017 saw the release of the poignant “Five More Minutes,” the first single from his third LP, Seasons Change. A trio of additional singles arrived in early 2018 in advance of Seasons Change, which was released by Triple Tigers/Sony Music in March of that year. Another chart-topper in the U.S., it also fared well in Canada and the U.K. The heartfelt single “You Time” arrived in late 2020 followed the next year by “Why You Gotta Be Like That.”

Scotty McCreery Launches His First Ever Headlining Tour for 2013! It’s only been a little under two years since Scotty McCreery won American Idol, but he’s already prepared to strike out completely on his own! The country music newbie will be launching his first ever headlining tour in just under a month! The Weekend Roadtrip Tour 2013 is sponsored by humanitarian organization World Vision, and will kick off on February 14th in Bethlehem, PA making stops in 25 different cities. McCreery is quick to acknowledge the stars that have helped him get where is right now, and also wants fans to know that he has a lot in store for them. “I’ve been lucky enough to play a lot of great cities over the last year with Brad Paisley and some other great country artists. This time I get to play some new places with a show that’s all my own. Scotty McCreery Plans On Getting Healthier In 2013! Just because country stars are, well, stars, doesn’t mean they don’t have things they want to change about themselves! Scotty McCreery rang in the New Year with the hope that he’ll be able to eat a little healthier in 2013! He recently told US Magazine that he wants to try and lay off on all that fast food. “I really should lay off the fast food. Scotty McCreery To Perform Tracks from His Christmas Album on QVC Network. To promote his recently released Christmas album, Scotty McCreery will be stopping by the set of QVC on Tuesday, October 23rd at 2pm to perform a couple of his holiday tunes! Besides performing, McCreery is also offering up a special two CD set including both his albums, Christmas with Scotty McCreery and Clear As Day. The two disc set will be available October 23rd via QVC while supplies last. Sounds like a nice little gift, doesn’t it? Since his time on American Idol, Scotty has had quite the eventful career, from winning awards for new country artist from the ACMs and the ACAs to touring on Brad Paisley‘s Virtual Reality Tour 2012.

Scotty McCreery Releases His First Christmas Album in October! Scotty McCreery fans will have extra reason to rejoice over the holidays this year, since their favorite crooner will be releasing his first Christmas Album on October 16th! There are a lot of Christmas tunes out there, but McCreery chose to include those that played a special role in his own life. “Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year. And what is Christmas without music? We start listening to Christmas songs early in the McCreery household, so it felt right…“It’s a special thing for me. As a family, we were all really excited about making a Christmas album. Now we can add my CD to the collection we listen to.” -Scotty McCreery The album is titled Christmas with Scotty McCreery, and includes eleven songs that he feels will encourage people to feel good about the holidays. “I just wanted it to be holly and jolly and really lift people’s spirits in the Christmas season because it’s supposed to be a really happy time. Tim McGraw Brings Out Scotty McCreery at SC “Brothers of the Son” Tour Stop. Okay, so we all know that Scotty McCreery has been launched into stardom because of American Idol. Yes, its possible we would of heard about him eventually…but it would have been a completely different story. Now, we all have our opinions about this young man (and let’s be honest, everyone who performs on that show…), but I’ve got to say, that he must have made some kind of an impression if all these country music veterans are so willingly performing with him left and right. Not only has Scotty been on tour with Brad Paisley‘s 2012 international Virtual Reality Tour, but now the still very young star is making cameos on the Brothers of the Sun Tour. Over the weekend at the South Carolina tour stop, Tim McGraw brought McCreery out to perform classic “I Like, I Love It“…and the crowd clearly ate that right up. This tour has been highly anticipated by country music fans, and it is a really big deal for Scotty to get to be involved with it (on top of everything else he is getting to do…). The Official Music Video For Scotty McCreery’s “Water Tower Town.” “Water Tower Town” is from Scotty McCreery’s debut album, Clear As Day. It is his third single since winning season 10 of American Idol and it looks to have a lot of potential on the country charts! McCreery has been very busy the last year and earlier this month something almost unthinkable for a teenager happened to him. He performed AND took home a buckle at the CMT Music Awards on June 6, then graduated high school WITH honors 12 hours later!
