Listen Now: LeAnn Rimes Duet With Stevie Nicks on “Borrowed”

Leann Rimes Stevie Nicks Borrowed

Multi-platinum Grammy award-winning vocalist, LeAnn Rimes has released “Borrowed”, the final track from her Re-Imagined EP, but surprised fans by making the emotional ballad a duet with music icon Stevie Nicks. “Borrowed (Re-Imagined)” and Rimes full five-track EP Re-Imagined are both available on digital platforms worldwide. Written by LeAnn Rimes, Darrell Brown and Dan Wilson, the original version of “Borrowed” was featured on Rimes critically acclaimed “Spitfire” album (2013). Nicks hand-picked this song to be re-recorded from Rimes catalog. “I first heard ‘Borrowed’ in 2013~ LeAnn was singing it on The Tonight Show,” shared Nicks. “I stopped in my tracks and sat down on the floor and started to cry. I understood what she was singing about. I understood that the pain was real~ and I understood that it had happened to me… When the song ended, I called my assistant to tell her that one day, I would sing this song with LeAnn. It was our destiny. LeAnn is the best singer I have ever sung with. You can’t compete with her; you can only keep up with her. To sing with her is to be blessed. She teaches you; she takes you along for the ride~ she takes you on her journey~ and you arrive~ a much better singer. It has been my great pleasure to share this song with her~ and I hope someday we can do it again.” “Borrowed (Re-Imagined)” was produced by Darrell Brown, Waddy Wachtel, LeAnn Rimes and Stevie Nicks. “Stevie has been inspiring me as a songwriter and performer since I can remember,” says Rimes. “To know that my music has seeped its way into her heart the way her music has into mine is magical. Connecting with her, not only musically, but on a soul level, understanding what it’s like to be a woman with passion, a pen and a desire to tell the most authentic, heartfelt truth through song has been an experience that’s forever left an imprint on my life. “ For the past few months, the powerhouse vocalist has been surprising fans with re-imagined versions of some of her biggest hits over the course of her career: “Blue”, “How Do I Live”, “Can’t Fight the Moonlight”, “One Way Ticket” and “Borrowed”, all featured on the Re-Imagined EP. Rimes has performed these new renditions on her Remnants tour last year, and received such a positive response, that the two-time Grammy winner wanted to make them available to everyone. This EP serves as a personal thank you to her fans for their support. For more information on LeAnn Rimes, visit www.leannrimesworld.com.

Leann Rimes Blue Re-Imagined on Country Music News Blog

In late May, Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum selling artist LeAnn Rimes surprised “American Idol” contestant Layla Spring and her little sister Dyxie Spring when she walked out on stage and joined them in singing her breakout hit “Blue.” Rimes made the country tune a worldwide hit when she released it back in 1996 where it remained #1 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart for more than three months. “I was honored to be asked by ‘American Idol’ to surprise Layla and Dyxie Spring on the season finale,” shared Rimes. “The ‘American Idol’ team can sure keep a secret! The sweethearts had no idea; it felt like a surprise birthday party!  The two of them bring so much joy to the world, and I hope I was able to give them a little of it back.” Following the intimate performance, “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest announced Rimes will be releasing a brand EP titled Re-Imagined on June 20. The project will feature five new renditions of some of her biggest classics including her previously released versions of “How Do I Live,” “One Way Ticket” and others as well as “Blue.” “I originally recorded the song ‘Blue’ right before I turned 12 years old,” Rimes explains exclusively to Taste of Country. “It is crazy to think how this one song changed the course of my life. After 24 years of performing the song it was due for a simple ‘Re-imagining’ of the arrangement for my Remnants tour last year. Starting out this version with just the bass guitar with me singing the opening word of the song just goes to show you how special of a song it is. I wanted to share this live version of the track with you and truly hope you enjoy as much as we did performing it. “ Fans can purchase and stream the new re-imagined  “Blue” as heard on the ABC hit show now on all digital platforms. Globally, Rimes has sold more than 44 million units, won 2 Grammy® Awards; 12 Billboard Music Awards; 2 World Music Awards; 3 Academy of Country Music Awards; one Country Music Association Award and one Dove Award. At 14, Rimes won “Best New Artist” making her the youngest recipient of a Grammy® Award. For more information on Rimes and her new Re-Imagined EP, please visit www.leannrimesworld.com.

BLUE CHAIR/WARNER BROS./WEA’s KENNY CHESNEY will donate proceeds from his forthcoming album, “Songs For The Saints,” to his LOVE FOR LOVE CITY FUND benefiting the VIRGIN ISLANDS. CHESNEY launched the foundation in SEPTEMBER to help areas being affected by HURRICANE IRMA (NET NEWS 9/11/17). CHESNEY penned “Songs For The Saints” and “Love For Love City” in the days following HURRICANE IRMA and will use proceeds from the album to continue to support the island’s recovery efforts. “I didn’t necessarily have ‘a plan,’ but these songs needed to be written,” said CHESNEY. “And, a friend said, ‘You should call the album “Songs For The Saints,” make it something that honors the people and the life on those islands, but also provides for them long after what happened has fallen off the news cycle.’ It hit me, that was what I was already doing and hadn’t realized it. I never in the world thought I’d talk to FEMA people, but every day, there was a new problem to solve. I’ve never made a record in the middle of such chaos and anxiety, but I took every bit of that into the studio – and you can hear it in the vocals. Looking back, what a beautiful way to make a record for people I love so much. And, now, I can give that music back to them in a way that makes a difference.” CHESNEY’s “Songs For The Saints” album is scheduled to street FRIDAY, JULY 27th.

Bobby Bones Launching Nationally Syndicated Radio Show Featuring Only Female Artists

Bobby Bones Carrie Underwood

iHEARTMEDIA syndicated “THE BOBBY BONES SHOW” host BOBBY BONES is planning to launch a national radio show featuring a female-only playlist that will air on more than 100 radio stations. That news, according to an article in the TENNESSEAN. BONES is quoted in the piece, saying, “I’ll be really obnoxious about it and just cram it down the radio station … People aren’t embracing things, and they are embracing other things too fast … It’s important for fairness. I want everybody to have an equal shot.” The news about BONES’ upcoming show was part of the TENNESSEAN’s larger examination of female Country songs charting. The paper cited data saying the percentage of purely female Country songs has dipped 13% since 2016, part of an all-genre drop with female airplay. In 2017, for example, the TENNESSEAN says females comprised only 16.8% of popular artists on the charts — a six-year low. Read the entire piece here.
