BamaJam 2012 Must See List

BamaJam 2012: The Acts You Don’t Want To Miss! BamaJam 2012 is just hours away, and HaleighT and I are hittin’ the highway to get there! The event organizers have pulled together 3 days of great music and fun activities, and we couldn’t be more excited. One of the good things about festivals like this is that there is a really good mix of artists. There will be some big name headliners, but there will also be some new up and comers that haven’t hit it big maybe but still have the talent. So, for our readers, I’m going to break this out, and give you the list of my “must-see” performances for this year’s festival! These are the people that push come to shove, I won’t be missing…no matter what. MissMolly’s “Must-See” List for BamaJam 2012! Headliners: 1. Willie Nelson You just can’t get more iconic than Willie. 2. Eric Church Church is just straight up bad ass. His performance will be beyond awesome. End of story. 3. Zac Brown Band There isn’t a single song these guys have put out, that I don’t love. It doesn’t matter what mood I’m in or what’s going on, but I am always a little bit happier after listening to ZBB. So, I simply can’t wait to see what these guys bring to the stage…live! Up and Coming: 1. Conner Christian and Southern Gothic I hadn’t heard of this group until I check out the complete line-up, and I’m glad that they’ve landed on my radar. They definitely aren’t traditional country, but have an Americana, kind of southern rock vibe. Their sound is gritty and I think has the potential to be great live and festival perfect! 2. Sonia Leigh Leigh has been around for more than a few years now, and her career is really starting to pick up traction! She is a singer/songwriter with a sound that’s got country at its core and a rock vibe mixed in. She has all the makings of a great live performer and I have high hopes for her set. 3. Casey James We’ve had our eye on this talented young man since his days on American Idol, and I’m ready to see if he is as good in live and in person as he is live and on tv! Based on the music he has released so, I’m pretty confident it will be a good show! Be sure to check out the complete line-up and figure out who makes it on your “must-see” list. Eric Church Offends Blake Shelton

Eric Church Offends Fellow Country Singer, Blake Shelton, In Interview. After doing an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Eric Church has offended some fellow country music artists. During the interview Church spoke about reality shows such as American Idol and The Voice and his opinions on them. “It’s become American Idol gone mad. Honestly, if Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green f—–g turn around in a red chair, you get a deal? That’s crazy. I don’t know what would make an artist do that. You’re not an artist.” -Church “Once your career becomes about something other than the music, then that’s what it is. I’ll never make that mistake. I don’t care if I f—–g starve.” -Church Miranda Lambert quickly took to twitter and said “Thanks Eric Church for saying I’m not a real artist. Or @kelly_clarkson, @carrieunderwood & @KeithUrban. Your welcome for the tour in 2010.” This was after Blake Shelton tweeted “I wish I misunderstood this…” Church’s exact wording was pretty harsh, but did Lambert put words in his mouth? He never called anyone out by name except Shelton. Both Church and Lambert are known for their outspoken personalities and this situation proves it. Church soon put out a public response. “The comment I made to Rolling Stone was part of a larger commentary on these types of reality television shows and the perception they create, not the artists involved with the shows themselves. The shows make it appear that artists can shortcut their way to success. There are a lot of artists due to their own perseverance that have gone on to be successful after appearing on these shows, but the real obstacles come after the cameras stop rolling. Every artist has to follow up television appearances with dedication towards their craft, but these shows tend to gloss over that part and make it seem like you can be ordained into stardom.” “I have a problem with those perceived shortcuts, not just in the music industry. Many people have come to think they can just wake up and have things handed to them. I have a lot of respect for what artists like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and my friend Miranda Lambert have gone on to accomplish. This piece was never intended to tear down any individual and I apologize to anybody I offended in trying to shed light on this issue.” “I am grateful for all of the artists and fans that have supported me along my journey and certainly did not mean for my comments to undermine their talent and achievements.” The worst thing about this whole situation is the fact that these artists were all friends before. We never like to see things like this happen in the country music world, but we have to ask…What do you think about everything that was said? Do you think there could have been some over-reactions? Or, do you think some offense should have been taken? Let us know!

Eric Church Springsteen Music Video

The Music Video For Eric Church’s “Springsteen” Is Finally Here! Here it is! Eric Church’s latest single, “Springsteen” has been making its’ mark on the hearts of many country music fans for the last several weeks now (even sooner if you bought Chief last summer) and now the video is here for everyone to enjoy! I could talk for days about this song. The lyrics and the music that goes with it are really some of the best I’ve heard in a while! But instead of listening to me blab about what the song means to me, how it makes me feel, how I could listen to it on repeat for hours and so on…I’ll just let you watch! Here is “Springsteen!” Get More: Springsteen, Eric Church, Eric Church Videos “I was singin’ to you, you were singin’ to me. I was so alive, never been more free.”

Eric Church First Number 1 Hit

“Drink In My Hand” Becomes Eric Church’s First #1 Single! As many of you know, I have been an Eric Church fan for many years! This appreciation I have for his songwriting capabilities and his musical talents have been here long before I was ever an assignment journalist here at CMNB. I fell in love with his sound several years back… The first time I saw him live was 2006, it was a HOT, summer day at a country music festival. I really like what I heard and I loved the craziness he was displaying on stage. Now let me clarify, he wasn’t crazy, the amount of energy he had was crazy and in a good way! I purchased his album Sinners Like Me a short while later and knew every single word in, give or take, two days! I waited and waited for some new material from Church and in 2009 Carolina hit store shelves! Let me tell you, it was worth the wait! I blasted that in my car day after day! Until about a month ago, it was the constant CD in my CD player. My friend Melissa joked, “Where did Eric go?” one day when we were driving…”Oh it’s in the DVD player in the house, I was listening to it while I got ready.” If you listen to something for two years solid and don’t get tired of it…well I’d call that good music! Chief was released in the summer of 2011 and became Church’s first #1 album. “Homeboy” was the first single released and next was “Drink In My Hand,” which became his first #1 single. I was so happy for Eric, but at the same time I became a little aggravated. “Drink In My Hand” is a great song that obviously hit home with tons of people and I’m happy about that, but this is Church’s THIRD album. I believe there have been tons and tons of his previous songs that should have been #1s! I have seen this guy perform countless times (12+), big stages, small stages, headlining or opening, it doesn’t matter. He puts just as much power and passion into every single one of his shows! The songs he writes…well, it’s like he took stories out of my past, wrote them out and added music! I believe it’s like that for a lot of people, very relatable. He doesn’t talk about things he doesn’t know, he talks about life, the way he lives it and that is something I respect! I am by no means saying that he is the best thing alive and all of the other country artists are crappy and fake. I’m just saying give credit where credit is due! Eric Church is a damn-good musician and one hell of a songwriter! Congratulations to him on this first #1! I know that there will be more to come…it looks like “Springsteen” will soon be his second!

Eric Church Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour

In Case Anyone Wanted To Know How The VERY FIRST Show Of The Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour Went… I was very fortunate to attend the first show of Eric Church’s Blood, Sweat and Beers Tour. It took place in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the Fort Smith Convention Center. I (again so very grateful) had VIP tickets which included lots of goodies! There was a dinner before (with great food), a bag full of merchandise (including a very classy set of shot glasses), an acoustic set and great seats! The acoustic set consisted of two songs between dinner and the actual show. He sang “Like Jesus Does,” a track from Chief and “Before She Does,” a track from his first album Sinners Like Me. After those there was time for some questions from the fans. I managed to get some talk time, where I first told him it was my birthday and then asked where he got the idea to write “Lightning.” He replied with a VERY “Happy Birthday” and said it came to him one day after watching the Green Mile. For those of you who haven’t heard it, go listen now! It will definitely tug at your heartstrings! After questions (and one more drink) me and my friends headed to the main building! Brantley Gilbert was the opening act, but I only caught the first and last songs of his set…that’s because I was waiting in line for a cold beverage for, no joke, at least 30 minutes. This was one thing, that I feel, wasn’t thought out very carefully. Once Church hit the stage all complaints or worries were out the door!!!! He ROCKED that stage, and when I say this I mean it 100 percent! I have seen him perform on several occasions (over 10) and I’m never disappointed, but last Thursday I was attacked with the amount of energy coming off of the stage and exuding in the audience. He packed the place, it was mentioned several times that this was a record breaking amount of people in the building! That’s with it being a Thursday night and previous artists such as Willie Nelson and Miranda Lambert playing the venue! He played his classics “Two Pink Lines,” “Sinners Like Me,” “Guys Like Me,” “Pledge Allegiance to the Hag,” “Smoke A Little Smoke,” “Carolina,” “Hell On the Heart” and many others. Like clock-work, as soon as he started to sing “These Boots,” the majority of the crowd shucked their kickers and raised them high in the air! Church also played songs from his most recent album, Chief! Of course he sang “Drink In My Hand,” but what has become one of my all-time favorite songs, “Springsteen,” stole the show! He played the piano during the memory-lane, reminiscing tune, this is after learning the 88 keyed instrument days prior! Basically it was one of the best shows I have seen in a LONG time! Most definitely the best show I’ve seen in 2012! 😉 I strongly encourage Continue reading Eric Church Blood, Sweat & Beers Tour
