In association with Covergirl, Chegg and Papa John’s, Swift is participating in the upcoming season of VH1’s Storytellers. The reality series features artists performing in front of a group of fans in an intimate setting in which they share details and insight in their lives and careers, and Swift needs to find her audience! Taylor will perform her acoustic set for the winning college or high school this Fall as part of the series. Any accredited college or high school in the 48 continental U.S. is eligible to participate, and applicants have until September 23rd to throw their hat in the ring. Eric church will join some of music’s most talented musicians in celebrating the talent and legacy of the late Levon Helm at the Love For Levon benefit concert. The concert will be held at the Izod Center in Rutherford, NJ on Wednesday, October 3. “I can’t possibly overstate what Levon Helm meant to my music or my life. He was a giant. A man among boys. Tyler Farr’s Newest Single, “Hello Goodbye,” Released To Radio. Tyler Farr has released his brand new single, “Hello Goodbye,” to country radio today. The heartfelt ballad, based on real-life experiences, is the follow up to “Hot Mess.” “I caught an ex-girlfriend of mine cheating on me, and the next day we (Kris Bergsnes and Skip Black) wrote this song. Songwriting is like therapy, and thanks to Kris, Skip and a few drinks, I got some good counseling.” -Farr Farr performed the song on the Grand Ole Opry stage a few weeks ago. Keith Urban New American Idol Judge

Keith Urban Fills Third Judge Seat On American Idol. American Idol producers have been hankering to get a country music star on the show, and it looks like they are getting exactly what they want in Keith Urban ! Reports are flying all over the place suggesting that Urban is filling the third spot at the judges panel on the long running and extremely popular reality competition series. Neither an official press release or statement has been released by Urban’s reps, but The Country Vibe is siting “sources” suggesting that its a done deal and The Hollywood Reporter seems to have similar “sources” with all kinds of insider knowledge! So, I’m going to go ahead and take all this with a grain of salt, but at the end of the day, I won’t be at all surprised if Keith takes over that third seat at the start of the next season. Rumor has it that Brad Paisley was in talks with Idol producers but bowed out when they couldn’t agree on a price tag (Apparently, Paisley wanted to match Nicki Minaj’s $8 million paycheck). So far, long reigning pop diva Mariah Carey is confirmed and Minaj is finalizing her deal with the show. Either way, it looks like these new judges might just make American Idol interesting again.

Josh Abbott Band At George’s Majestic Lounge

The Josh Abbott Band Sets The Bar High For This Fall Semester In Fayetteville! The Josh Abbott Band made their way to Fayetteville, AR this Wednesday to perform at George’s Majestic Lounge. This was the first week back to classes for the Razorbacks and judging by the sold out crowd, they were ready to forget the books! JAB performed songs from their current album, Small Town Family Dream (read the review here), as well as some of their classics. As I said before, it was a sold out show! A great portion of the crowd missed the opening band because of the amount of people trying to get in the doors at once. George’s has one of the best, if not very best crews working from them. But with that many fans, the doormen can only get you in so fast. Luckily for the attendees, as soon as you were in, you were golden! The newly remodeled venue had a great vibe in the air and as soon as the band took the stage all focus was straight ahead! The crowd was singing along the whole night (“Taste,” “Touch,” “Oh Tonight” and more) and some boot scooters managed to get a little two-steppin’ in (with what little space was available, SOLD OUT SHOW!). If you are familiar with this band’s live show, then you know what I mean when I say it was exactly what I expected. This in no way is a bad thing…the energy was explosive and the music was right on point! As usual, the girls went crazy for Preston Wait‘s fiddle skills and melted over Josh‘s voice. All in all, the night was a success! I truly believe the band likes playing George’s and I know the Arkansas fans love having them!

So what will Spitfire Social Club members be getting exactly? Taylor Swift’s Recently Debuted Single Sets A New Record! Last week Taylor Swift announced LIVE from Nashville via a special Livestream all the details about her new album, Red, set to drop in October (Read the complete recap!). At the conclusion of the live YouTube webchat, Swift debuted the first single off of her album, “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together“, and moments later it was available to purchase through the usual digital channels. No surprise here, but that single has officially set the record in for highest digital sales in a week for a song by a woman! As of August 19th, Taylor had sold 623,000 copies, and as a result debuted in the number one spot on Billboard‘s Digital Songs Chart. If you’ve heard the song, then you know it’s not exactly (or at all) a country tune. But, she’s still a country singer, and I’m sure there will be more than a couple country music singles on the Red. I guess, we will see!
