CMA Music Fest: Country’s Night to Rock 2011 Network Air Date Is Set. Whether or not you had the opportunity to experience CMA Music Festival in person this year, any country fan with access to a television will have the opportunity to either experience CMA Fest for the first time or relive the excitement. CMA Music Fest has officially announced the air date for the annual special CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night to Rock 2011, a recounting of the 2011 concerts and events at LP Field in Nashville earlier this month. The show is an edited version of the concerts a few thousand(s) lucky fans had the chance to see live including performances by Reba McEntire, Lauren Alaina, Jason Aldean, Sara Evans, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Martina McBride, Scotty McCreery, Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Darius Rucker, Blake Shelton, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, the Zac Brown Band, and others. CMA Music Festival: Country’s Night To Rock will air on ABC on Sunday, August 7th at 8PM ET. Be sure to check in on this special concert event!

Miranda Lambert’s Pistol Annies Signs

Miranda Lambert’s Side Project The Pistol Annies Signs Record Contract. Miranda Lambert announced earlier this year she would be adding a side project, also known as The Pistol Annies, to her already lucrative career. The Pistol Annies is an all-girl musical trio formed by Lambert and also includes Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The group may have just been a fun venture, but now it looks like things are getting serious. Lambert announced at a recent performance in Chicago that The Pistol Annies have officially signed a recording contract. At the same performance the group performed a number of songs including Boys From the South. It is being speculated they have signed with Sony, Miranda’s label, but no confirmation has been made on a specific label yet. No word so far on when fans can expect an album release, but the group will be offering a little taste of what’s to come with an iTunes release of the song Hell on Wheels next week.

Josh Turner Hosts Benefit Concert

Josh Turner Reaches Out to Students in Ringgold Georgia. Josh Turner is taking time to help support the students and community in Ringgold, Georgia who are coping with the devastation of an EF-4 tornado, which ripped through the town on April 27 destroying approximately half of the businesses, homes, and community. Turner will be hosting a benefit concert, “After The Storm: Coming Together Benefit Concert With Josh Turner” on Thursday, July 14th at the Davis Cattle Company in Ringgold, GA. All of the proceeds will be contributed to the Ringgold Band and the Ringgold athletic fund. Tickets go on sale today, Friday, June 24th!

Vince Gill Gets Star On Walk of Fame

Vince Gill Honored with Star On the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Vince Gill is joining his wife, Amy Grant, on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Grant received her star in 2006, and in 2012 Vince will be honored with a star of his own. I’m pretty sure their stars won’t be positioned next to one another, but a star is a star! Other 2012 Hollywood Walk of Famers include actors Jennifer Aniston, Richard Burton, Kate Winslet, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lopez and Adam West, music legends Barry White, Hal David, David Foster and the band Heart and cartoonist Matt Groening. Gill once lived in Los Angeles when he was still a youngster and not yet so accomplished. Yet, he never thought the day would come when he would be honored in such a way. “When I lived out there, I was such a young person…So even the thought of one day having a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was preposterous. It was silly. It wasn’t even in the realm of my thinking. I walked up and down Hollywood Boulevard and said, ‘There is so-and-so.’ I never thought for one second, ‘I will have one of these one day.” -Vince Gill Vince adds this honor into the Hollywood Walk of Fame to his list of noteworthy inductions which includes the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton’s wedding video was NOT intended for public sharing, and has since been removed from the original youtube account. While SOME country music sites may continue to host and share the video, I will not be making an attempt to do so. Congratulations to the happy couple, and my sincere wishes that your private moments stay private. The wedding of the year between Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton seems like it was quite the fun and intimate affair. We’re really excited and of course honored that the couple has allowed a video compilation to be released that gives fans an inside peek at the simple beauty the day held for Blake & Miranda. Her single “Takin’ Off This Pain” from her first album, Sounds So Good, showed us what the artist is all about. “I’ve got a cold beer in my right hand, in my left I got my weddin’ band” was a fast anthem for woman who were over the “BS” everywhere. The Wall Street Journal has called her “a potential Loretta Lynn for a new generation” and we agree! So if you want a once in a lifetime chance to see here do her thing then go vote!

Lauren Alaina’s New Single

Lauren Alaina’s New Single Like My Mother Does. American Idol Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina has released her first single “Like My Mother Does“. The song was sent to radio after she performed it on the hit show on May 24, and debuted at No. 11 on the Digital Sound charts and No. 20 on the Hot 100 charts! The song is also doing very well on the Hot Country Songs chart, jumping to No. 43. “This is so awesome!” she says. “American Idol has changed my life, so I’m excited that the songs I performed on there are doing so well. I can’t believe I have a song out on country radio, much less that so many stations started playing it right away. I can’t wait to get out there and meet everybody and thank them personally for playing my song.” Lauren will begin recording her debut album this week in Nashville and will participate in the CMA Music Fest. She will present at the CMT Music Awards Wednesday, hit the Grand Ole Opry stage Friday, and play in the City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game Saturday. She has a busy summer ahead of her with the American Idol Live tour that begins July 6 in Salt Lake City, but we know she is ready for this adventure!

Scotty McCreery’s New Single

Scotty McCreery’s Debut Single Succeeds On Charts. Hot on the heels of his American Idol win last week, Scotty McCreery got some good news about his debut single. The song, “I Love You This Big“, was originally debuted on Idol before his win, and it hit the radio on May 24th. So far it is No. 32 on Billboard’s Nielsen BDS-based Hot Country Songs chart which is the highest debut for a new artist’s first single since the chart began using BDS data the week of Jan. 20, 1990. “I am humbled and shocked by this news. I can’t tell you what it means to me to be on the same charts as my musical heroes. I want to thank my fans and especially country radio for their support.” -Scotty McCreery Additionally, the single hit No. 1 on iTunes, and also reached No. 3 on the Billboard Digital Songs chart with 171,404 units sold. Also doing quite well is a compilation album featuring 14 of his performances from America Idol, entitled American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery which reached No. 12 on the Billboard Top 200 all-genre albums chart and No. 3 on the country albums chart with 23,196 units sold. It is clear that Scotty has a large and devoted fan base! Scotty will be appearing alongside Lauren Alaina at the CMT Music Awards on June 8th, and both will have multiple appearances through CMA Music Festival. Following up next week’s festivities, fans can look forward to Scotty’s forthcoming album which he will start working on in Nashville soon. So, since the powers that be seem to be keeping the two together for most events, I wonder when we will hear more about Lauren’s impending album?

Brad Paisley Kicks Off Tour

Brad Paisley Kicks Off His 2011 Tour This Weekend! One of the best things about summer time in the world of country music is that everyone goes on tour, and there are limitless opportunities for a good party! Brad Paisley‘s wild and exciting tour H2O II: Wetter & Wilder World Tour presented by Chevy is a perfect example. Back by popular demand, this is the follow up to last year’s similarly themed concert extravaganza. The much anticipated tour will kick off this weekend in Virginia Beach, VA on June 3rd followed by Hartford, CT on June 4th. Special guests on the main stage include Blake Shelton and Jerrod Niemann. The tour is bringing back the very popular and fan favorite “Water World Plaza,” turning every city into a water festival. The primary focal point in the Plaza will be the “Water World Plaza Stage” featuring new and rising country stars Edens Edge, Sunny Sweeney and Brett Eldredge and the JaneDear Girls alternating show dates. Adding even more fun, there will be multiple water-themed activities – including a Chevy H2O FLW fishing simulator, dunking booth, slip n slide, and other various water games. All said and done, the tour will cover 30 cities including four stadiums and an international leg covering London’s O2 Arena, Dublin, Stockholm, Oslo and more. Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton Raise Bundle for Relief

Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton Raise Large Sum through Benefit Concerts. Reba and Blake Shelton hosted two “Tornado Relief Concerts” at the Choctaw Events Center in Durant on May 25th and 26th, and managed to raise a total of $500,00 as both shows sold out. The proceeds are being donated to victims of recent severe storms and tornadoes in Atoka County, OK. Both Reba and Blake are Oklahoma natives, and organized the two shows in an effort to show their supports for their fellow Oklahomans. Both performances lasted for over two hours and each included a jam-packed set and an encore. The pair co-headlined the event, opening with a duet of “Oklahoma Swing.” The two sang a combination of their hits including Reba’s “The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia,” “Why Haven’t I Heard From You,” “Turn on the Radio” and “Consider Me Gone,” and Blake’s “All About Tonight,” “Goodbye Time,” “Hillbilly Bone” and “Some Beach.” The set lists also included more recent singles like Reba’s “When Love Gets a Hold of You” and Blake’s chart-topping “Honey Bee“. At the May 26th show, fans were greeted with a special treat as Susie McEntire-Eaton and Kelly Clarkson stopped by for surprise appearances. All proceeds raised from both shows and donations from The Choctaw Nation and fans, will go towards Atoka County’s ongoing relief efforts through the Tushka Disaster Relief Fund. Additionally, for those still wanting to lend a helping hand, a special mobile fundraising campaign has been set up with The mGive Foundation. Fans can text “OKGIVE” to 27722 to make a one-time $10 donation, which will be added to their monthly cell phone bill. Checks can also be made out to the Tushka Disaster Relief Fund and mailed to: 101 SE 1st Street, Tushka, OK 74525.
