The Band Perry Collaborates with Justin Bieber

The Band Perry Joins Bieber On His Upcoming Christmas Album. It is an epidemic. I am honestly considering calling the CDC (Center for Disease Control). Okay, maybe I’m being just a tad over dramatic here, but country music fans, we have a problem. The Band Perry is collaborating with Justin Bieber on his upcoming Christmas album. Now, maybe if this was the first time this had happened, I would be a little less irritated (or maybe not…). However, I am beginning to notice a trend, and I do not like where it is headed. We have not kept our opinions to ourselves on this topic, over here at the CMNB newsroom. I have discussed this whole Bieber and country music …thing… several times, and HaleighT sounded off on it in her video segment last week (check that out here.) Yet, we’ve really only talked about it in bits and pieces, so right now, I’m going to paint the big picture. So, let’s go over this one more time. Rascal Flatts started this when they collaborated with Justin Bieber on his single “That Should Be Me” released in February of 2011 on his Never Say Never album. Then this summer at the 2011 CMT Music Awards, Justin Bieber won the very first award of the evening for this collaboration. I would like to point out two things. First, this award was won by Justin Bieber not Rascal Flatts. Second, this is not a country song. It isn’t even trying to pretend to be a country song. Actually, this song is so not country, it makes Rascal Flatts sound like they are not country. Yet, there we were at the 2011 Country Music Television Awards watching Justin Bieber win the first award of the evening…for not country music. Then just a couple of weeks ago, Justin Bieber popped up at Taylor Swift’s concert in L.A., and they performed a song together. Did they perform one of Taylor’s songs? No, they performed Justin’s “Baby“. (Sidenote, Bieber collaborated with Ludacris on that song. If you remember, Ludacris performed “Dirt Road Anthem” with Jason Aldean at the close of the 2011 CMT Awards. I’m just sayin’.). Shortly after Taylor and Justin’s performance together, we got word that Taylor and Justin are actually recording an original song together. Now, Taylor is known for branching into other genres that are a little less than country oriented (Think The Story of Us, released as a single earlier this year, pretty much 100% Pop. You can kind of hear the banjo in the background, but only if you ignore the drums and electric guitar.) Also, it could be argued that Taylor and Justin already share a substantial fan base (i.e. 13 year-old girls). Still, did she really have to record with Justin Bieber? Are there no other options? Reba Debuts New Video for Somebody’s Chelsea! One of everyone’s favorites, Reba McEntire, has released yet another powerful song, “Somebody’s Chelsea“, and now there is a brand new video to go with it that is just as moving. I will be honest, it really does’t take a whole lot to make me to tear up, but with this song, Reba pretty much had me crying with the first three notes. Both the song and the video are simple and predictable, but this really doesn’t detract from the emotional appeal of it. Reba’s powerful and unmistakable voice gives depth and life to lyrics and a theme that in anyone else’s hands would sound whiny and trite. Overall, it’s a well-performed song and video! Lady Antebellum’s “We Owned The Night” Video Is Here! It seems like only yesterday Lady Antebellum released the video for “Just A Kiss“, but yet this busy trio has done it again. The music video for “We Owned The Night” was released earlier this week and we have it here for you to watch! The song and video is simply about a perfect night! Doesn’t matter what happened before or what happens after, living in the moment is the focus of these lyrics! The video is basically one huge party with people who are living by Lady A’s new motto of owning the night! Who doesn’t love a night full of dancing and fireworks?! Listen to this song a couple times and you will probably be looking at this weekend with whole list of new possibilities!

Jason Aldean’s Music Video For Tattoos On This Town Turns On The Waterworks. Jason Aldean has released the music video for his latest single “Tattoos On This Town“. The song is a classic story of growing up in a small town and how the youth find their own ways to have fun and leave their mark. The video is probably one of the saddest things I’ve seen in a good while. It gave me chills from the very beginning and tears by the end. It is a traggic tale that many families know too well. There isn’t much to say other than WATCH IT! Aldean has had a very successful year with sales, tours, charts, video countdowns and growing numbers of fans! I’m sure this song and video will help keep all those stats on the positive! The Steel Magnolia’s Music Video For Bulletproof Is Here. The Steel Magnolia’s newest single “Bulletproof” is a little ditty about someone who “acts” like they aren’t sad about a recent failed relationship. Even Meghan Linsey’s strong voice gives a little inclination that the person in these lyrics might not be so un-shakable. If you have to tell yourself you’re bulletproof, how bulletproof can you really be? Either way the song is great! Since the beginning Meghan and Joshua Scott Jones have had amazing chemistry together (“Keep On Lovin’ You“, “Last Night Again“) and this time is no different. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Duet

Lambert and Shelton Duet Featured on Miranda’s Four the Record! Well, after Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert faked out the country music community with their promises of recording a new album together, it seems they are willing to offer all the broken-hearted fans a consolation prize. Blake and Miranda have in fact recorded a duet together, and it will be featured on Miranda’s upcoming album, Four the Record. The song is titled “Better in the Long Run” and was written by Ashley Monroe of the Pistol Annies, Charles Kelly of Lady Antebellum and Gordie Sampson of “Jesus, Take the Wheel” fame. There will be a total of 14 tracks on the album including Lambert’s current single “Baggage Claim“. Four the Record will be released November 1st.

New TV Series Troubadour TX

Troubadour, TX, A New Doc-Style Music TV Series Debuts Soon! Dallas based London Broadcasting and 41 Entertainment have joined forces to bring music fans a brand new reality documentary style music series title “Troubadour, TX“. The series will focus on twelve singers and songwriters as they attempt to build their musical careers in the Lone Star State. The series will feature artists from multiple genres of music including Country, Americana, Blues, and Rock among others, and will provide a behind-the-scenes perspective into the lives and growing careers of the featured artists. Episodes are filmed on location in Texas as the TTX production crews tirelessly follow the featured singers and songwriters on the road and at home. This series promises to provide a fresher perspective and grittier insight into the daily grind of the fledgling musician that you simply will not find on shows like CMT’s Next Superstar or American Idol. Justin Moore Tells Why He Is Passionate About NRA Country. NRA Country celebrates country music’s love of family, support of U.S. military and appreciation for the great outdoors. Many of the format’s biggest stars have joined the “This Is NRA Country” movement to share their perspective on what makes them NRA Country. Each month a different artist will be featured on this project and this month it is Arkansas native Justin Moore! Moore kicks everything off with his recently recorded song “This Is NRA Country“. Brantley Gilbert Offers Fans a Deluxe Edition of Halfway To Heaven. Earlier this year, Brantley Gilbert signed with Valory Music Company, and Tuesday, September 13th marked his first album release date with his new label. Gilbert has released a deluxe edition of his Halfway to Heaven album that is packed with lots of features fans will surely appreciate. All of the 12 original tracks have been remixed and remastered to create the sound Brantley was originally aiming for. Miranda Lambert Four The Record Special Edition Details

Miranda Lambert To Release Special Edition of Upcoming Album! Miranda Lambert‘s much anticipated upcoming album, Four The Record, is set to release November 1st. In case all of Miranda’s fans were not excited enough, it has been announced that a special edition deluxe version of the album will also be made available. This edition will include a bonus track as well as a DVD featuring Miranda sharing stories and details about each of the tracks. The bonus track would be enough, but the DVD footage is sure to offer some terrific insight into the song-writing process! Lambert is definitely excited to share her new music with fans. “I’m so ready for the fans to hear it! ‘Baggage Claim’ is such a groovy song and I’m glad it’s the first single.
