CMT Awards 2012 Performers

First Round of 2012 CMT Awards Performers Announced The CMT Music Awards are quickly approaching (less than a month away!), and they are lining up the performances for the evening! So far, the line-up includes Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley and Lady Antebellum! This is pretty good news for the country music fans who can’t make it to CMA Fest this year! You can at least catch some good performances online or on TV! The show airs Wednesday, June 6th at 8pm! It’s fan voted, and you can vote all the way through June 4th! Now, last year if you remember, we had some odd guests (i.e. Justin Bieber and Ludacris) that had country music fans scratching their heads in confusion. Think we’ll have a similar situation this year? Leave your guesses in the comment section below!

ABCs GCB To Be Canceled

Can ABCs GCB Be Saved? Like any self-respecting and on trend Country Music News journalist would do…we at CMNB like to keep tabs on all the country music stars and their Facebook and Twitter feeds! Yesterday, while doing a little of this social media recon, we stumbled across some alarming news courtesy of Chely Wright. ABC is trying to cancel our new favorite television show, GCB Please, say it isn’t so!!! This show aired just a couple months ago, and a lot of country music fans (these included!) have latched onto it. Following around the Texas elite, it’s kind of like a comedic, irreverent version of Dallas…okay, maybe that’s a stretch. But we are dealing with deliciously dramatic plots, well-dressed ladies, plenty of cowboy related humor, and beautiful people. Not to mention, this show is basically a soundtrack for all the country music hits! What’s not to love? Apparently, there are many who agree! There is currently an online petition going around to save GCB! If you love it like we do, go sign! If you think it should be canceled…sound off below! Leave a comment and let us know your thoughts!

Lady Antebellum Perfect Day Video

The Official Music Video For Lady Antebellum’s “Perfect Day.” The video for Lady Antebellum’s “Perfect Day” is a behind the scenes look at the band over the last year. From photo shoots, to TV appearances, awards shows, life on the road, music video sets, backstage at a show to being on the stage, they show us everything! I really like when videos have a story line and acting (like a mini-movie!), but I also really like when we get a candid look at the artists. They invite the whole world in and show us things that we normally wouldn’t see. I give this video an A and the song an A+! Watch the video now! Maybe it will inspire you to have a perfect day! Kip Moore Up All Night Album Review

There’s Somethin’ About Kip Moore’s Up All Night. On the third track of his debut album, Kip Moore tells us all about how “There’s Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck“, and I’m here to tell you there’s somethin’ ’bout Up All Night! I first heard Kip when I stumbled across his video for “Mary Was The Marrying Kind“, and I was instantly hooked. Now, if you want that single, you’ll have to get the deluxe version, but have no fear, there is plenty real, quality country to be had on the eleven tracks that make up this brand new album. From beginning, “Drive Me Crazy“, to end “Faith When I Fall“, country music fans will find in Kip Moore something that is both familiar and something that is unique. It seems frequent these days that we run across artists who just want to market themselves as country (throwing in some fiddle at the last minute or making sure they have a lyric about a creek or bonfire…) But these artists simply don’t have the authenticity to back it up. I don’t necessarily have a problem with that (as long as everyone is willing to recognize that’s what’s goin’ on), but when someone like Moore comes along, it makes those less than true artists pale in comparison. From his gravelly voice to his honest, well-written lyrics, you cannot help but be drawn into the stories he tells in each one of his songs. Besides being a talented singer, and songwriter (he co-wrote all of the tracks on this album!), Kip provides a sincerity in his delivery that gives his music a quality that is easy to relate to. Like when he sings “I guess I’ll always have this longing in my heart” on “Crazy One More Time“, you can almost feel it too. There is just heart felt sincerity in every note and every lyric! The music on this album keeps a pretty even keel, with some faster and some a little slower, but overall, it feels like one solid piece of work. Its the kind of thing you could put on no matter where you are, and it will always be a good idea. In that third track, Moore also lets us know that there’s somethin’ ’bout a kiss that’s gonna lead to more. I just hope the same applies to this album…keep the music comin’, Kip! If you’re curious about Kip be sure to head over to iTunes to check him out!

Loretta Lynn Hits Broadway!

Loretta Lynn Announces Zoey Deschanel To Play Her On Broadway! Loretta Lynn has officially announced that a Broadway stage adaption of Coal Miner’s Daughter is in the works, and she has chosen actress Zoey Deschanel to portray her! Loretta is understandably excited about the upcoming project, and Deschanel is grateful for the opportunity! “It’s a long way from Butcher Holler to Broadway in New York City. I never imagined I’d see Coal Miner’s Daughter on a movie screen, and now I can’t believe it’s going to be on a stage for people to see. I’m going to be right there in the front row. And I know Zooey is going to be great – she sings and writes her own songs just like I do, and we even have the same color eyes!” -Loretta Lynn “Loretta Lynn and her music have been inspirations for me for as long as I can remember. She is a true legend and to be chosen to play such an iconic woman is a dream come true.” -Zoey Deschanel Lynn made the announcement last Thursday evening during a performance at the Ryman Auditorium, and after the announcement Zoey joined her onstage for a duet! More details on the Broadway production of Coal Miner’s Daughter to come soon! Until then, what do you think?

Skyler This Dream (Nashville) Video

New Kid On The Block, Skyler, Releases Video for This Dream (Nashville). There’s a fresh faced new kid on the block, and his name is Skyler. Die-hard country fans take-note, this is not a traditional country music artist. Instead, Skyler is a little bit of a hybrid mixing in country influences with rock and pop sounds. So, this is definitely going to be for our more adventurous music fans (nothing wrong with liking your country music traditional though!). There’s a lot of fun and a lot of potential here, so check out the video below and see what you think! Like what you hear, find more here.
