Vince Gill Schedules Bluegrass Shows In Wake of Earl Scruggs Passing. Vince Gillhas lined up twelve performance dates for the start of the summer focusing exclusively on bluegrass from June 13-June 30! According to GAC, the iconic country guitarist and singer mentioned that this line-up of concerts bears special significance in the wake of Earl Scruggs passing on March 28th. After the passing of Earl Scruggs it means the world to me to do these dates with this world-class band playing the music that Earl defined. I absolutely adore this music.” -Vince Gill Gill will be taking care of guitar, mandolin and vocals while banjoist Jim Mills fiddler Stuart Duncan, guitarist Jeff White and bassist Dennis Crouch back him up. Eric Church and Miranda Lambert In The Illinois State Fair Line-Up! You can’t get more country than a state fair, so it makes sense that Miranda Lambert and Eric Church have been added to the Illinois State Fair line-up for this summer! The fair runs for 10 days total from Thursday, August 9th to Sunday, August 19th in Springfield, IL, and event organizers are clearly trying to get in as much country music as they can! Lambert will be performing on August 18th at 7:30pm along with the Pistol Annies! There is a TBA for an artist to join the trio that will be announced later on. Eric Church will be performing on August 10th at 7:30pm, and will be joined by Aaron Lewis. Brantley Gilbert also made the line-up, and will be joined on stage by Charlie Daniels! Animal lover Kellie Pickler had a once in a lifetime experience as a caregiver at the Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee on GAC’s Day Job’s last night. Helping animals has always been an important part of Kellie’s life. She learned about some of the tragic stories of their past and how the Elephant Sanctuary is helping provide a quality of life they would’ve experienced in the wild. Kellie took in every moment working alongside the caregivers as the tended to the magnificent creatures. Ricky Skaggs Will Soon Celebrate His 30th Anniversary As A Grand Ole Opry Member! The Grand Ole Opry, presented by Humana, will honor one of the most awarded artists in country and bluegrass music. Ricky Skaggs will celebrate his 30th anniversary as an Opry member during the Tuesday Night Opry, May 15. The 14-time Grammy winner was inducted into the Opry on May 15, 1982. His milestone anniversary will be celebrated by performances by the honoree, fellow Opry members Alison Krauss, Josh Turner and The Whites, plus special guests Daily & Vincent. “Not unlike Ricky’s music, the list of artists lined up to honor him on May 15 is electric and award-winning. It’s going to be a night of great musicianship as we celebrate all that Ricky means to the Opry family.” – Opry Vice President and General Manager, Pete Fisher From Skaggs’ beginnings in bluegrass, he has gone on to put his own stamp on the mainstream country format, resulting in twelve #1 hits, eight Academy of Country Music Awards and eight Country Music Association Awards, including CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1985. Skaggs started his own record label, Skaggs Family Records, in 1997 and has since released 12 consecutive Grammy-nominated albums.
