Blake Shelton’s Drink On It

The Story Behind Blake Shelton’s Latest Single “Drink On It!” I don’t know about everyone else, but I have been in love with Blake Shelton’s “Drink On It” ever since Red River Blue came out last summer! The song is great and like nothing else that is on the radio right now. We at CMNB can’t wait for the video to come out, but until then we thought you might like to know a little more about the song from Blake himself! Here is a clip where Blake talks about how he got his hands on this little ditty!

Shania Twain and Lionel Richie Endless Love Video

Shania Twain Teams Up with Lionel Richie For Endless Love. As I am sure you are aware, Lionel Richie has released a country duets album titled Tuskegee, so named after his hometown in Alabama. After decades of singing and producing in other genres, this industry veteran has apparently decided to take a walk on the country side of things. Whoever is in charge of marketing this puppy has been pushing it hard (remember when Richie got a whole set during the CMA Awards?), but the album just released March 18th, so its a bit early to say whether or not all the pushing has been successful. The album features a parade of duets with some of country’s past and current biggest stars from Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers and Jimmy Buffet to Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean. He also covers the classic “Endless Love” with Shania Twain, and the video for this particular tune just released. It is…well, dramatic and also a bit silly featuring a horse…the beach…a black and white kind of motif and even some slow motion. I am honestly not trying to be mean, but I really did laugh out loud when Lionel leaves the house and runs to the beach where Shania is galloping up on a horse (from the ocean?). Although, Shania is one of the queens of 90’s country, so maybe its an homage to the era…the vibe is definitely there. I’m really just not sold on the whole Lionel-Richie-Is-Going-Country thing. I might be alone in this though because from what I’ve read listeners seem to be responding positively. What do you think? Shania Twain Sings “Endless Love” with Lionel Richie. Sarah Darling Blackbird Video

Sarah Darling Video for Cover of Classic, “Blackbird”. Sarah Darling has covered the classic, “Blackbird” from the Beatles‘ iconic White Album, and this cover is part of the Linda McCartney tribute album, Let Us In Nashville, which you can read more about here. I have to say that it is really hard to improve on musical legends like the Beatles, but Darling clearly isn’t trying to improve anything (why fix it if it aint broke?!?). She simply brings her own talent to the table, and offers an alternate version of the song that is mellow, pleasant and heart felt. This song suits her vocals wonderfully, and it really was a good choice for her! Check out the recently released video below and see if you agree. Sarah Darling, “Blackbird“. Carrie Underwood Could Design Clothes

Would You Wear Carrie Underwood’s Clothes? Carrie Underwood recently let slip in a convo with Country Vibe that she’s not particularly interested in the whole “celebrity scent” thing, but does like the idea of getting into fashion and designing her own clothing line. “I would love to do that for other people…create things that people would like to wear.” -Carrie Underwood This isn’t really a new concept…country stars (or celebrities in general) getting into fashion in some way shape or form (Kenny Chesney has his sunglasses…Jason Aldean promotes for Wrangler…Tim McGraw and Faith Hill have their own fragrances…Reba McEntire has Reba Wear…you get the point). With that list of country celebs in mind and following the recent announcement from Rascal Flatts that they are considering designing a clothing line…I’m just wondering, is this just what happens when you’ve been around the country-music-hits-block a time or two? How is it that we go from writing and singing songs to designing a pair of jeans or a shirt? More importantly, country fans, are you into this? I’m really just wondering. I’m not someone who gets hung up on designers, so I don’t really care if Carrie thought up the pattern of the dress I’m wearing. I guess, what I want to know from you country music news readers, is would you buy her (or anyone’s) clothes just because her name is on it?

ACM Awards 2012 Off-Camera Winners

ACM Announces 2012 Winners of Off-Camera Awards Categories. The 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards are just a week away, and with host Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton and performances from the likes of Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Eric Church and many, many more (go here for a complete list), it looks like its going to be a heck of a show! But show organizers know that they’ve only got a limited amount of time, so they can’t possibly squeeze in all those performances and announce all the winners for all the possible categories…so, we have the “off-camera” winners. These categories range from special honors that recognize life-time achievements and accomplishments in the country music industry to awards for best songwriter of the year! Some of the industry specific awards, like “casino of the year” and “venue of the year” are a little random, and unlikely to interest to average country music fan, so it makes sense that they can’t eat up air time handing out those trophies. But it is a shame that the “steel guitar player of the year” and “fiddle player of the year” don’t get a little TV face time…those are categories die-hard country fans definitely care about (especially over here at CMNB where HaleighT loves herself some fiddle!). You can check out the complete list of off-camera categories and winners below, and if you haven’t yet, check out the 2012 ACM Awards nominees here. 2012 ACM Awards “Off-Camera” Winners, Complete List.
