Craig Campbell Wraps Up First-Ever USO Tour at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

Craig Campbell Wraps Up First-Ever USO Tour at Joint Base Lewis-McChord Singer/songwriter spends the week visiting, performing and bringing a time-honored Grand Ole Opry tradition to military families in celebration of USO’s 75th anniversary. Continuing a long-standing country music tradition of supporting those in uniform, RED BOW Records’ Craig Campbell wrapped up his first-ever USO tour as part of the Grand Ole Opry/USO 75th Anniversary Concert Series. Having visited nearly 2,000 service members and military families stationed on both the East and West Coast, the Georgia native performed a USO concert hosted by Patrick Air Force Base in Florida Aug. 7th, then made a USO visit to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington Aug. 9. DETAILS: An avid supporter of America’s service members, Campbell converted both of his USO shows into Opry Circle Throwdown performances. That’s right, the star traveled to each base with a signature Opry/USO mic stand and threw down a replica of the famed circle of wood from center stage at the Opry House before each USO performance. In addition to making audience’s swoon with his powerful vocals, Campbell also toured military aircraft and met one-on-one with service members. One of country’s brightest stars, Campbell launched onto the country music scene in 2011 and continues to exist in a perfect sweet spot between tradition and modernity. Born in Lyons, Georgia, Campbell played piano at his mother’s Baptist church for eight years starting at the age of 10. Among his many hit songs are “Keep Them Kisses Comin’,” “Fish,” “Family Man” and his latest critically-acclaimed single, “Outskirts of Heaven.” He is currently in the studio with producer Mickey Jack Cones working on his RED BOW Records’ debut album.February 4 marked the USO’s 75th anniversary and the kick off of a yearlong celebration around the world. Campbell’s USO tour was part of that celebration. The USO’s partnership with the country music industry dates as far back as the early 1940’s, when Gene Autry, also known as “The Singing Cowboy,” traveled to the Pacific and toured with a group of USO performers. Following in his footsteps and beginning what is now a long-standing tradition, stars of The Grand Ole Opry began touring with the USO in 1949.The Grand Ole Opry, the USO and Craig Campbell encourage fans to join them in connecting our nation’s service members to family, home and country. To support the USO’s Campaign to Connect, visit uso.org/connects and help the USO reach 1 million messages of support to military families stationed around the world. QUOTE:  Attributed to Craig Campbell: “I had a blast visiting and performing for our nation’s service members and their families, and can’t wait to get back out there and do it again.”

Brantley Gilbert announces May ‘Blackout Tour’

Brantley Gilbert Brings International Blackout Tour In May with support from Broken Witt Rebels Latest single ‘Stone Cold Sober’ out now Watch the video here Having rocked last year’s C2C Festival at The O2 in London last year, hard-hitting country outlier BRANTLEY GILBERT will return to the UK this May as part of his international Blackout tour. Among the concerts is a date at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. UK DATES Thu 05 May 2016 – Glasgow Oran Mor SOLD-OUT Fri 06 May 2016 – Manchester Academy 2 Sat 07 May 2016 – Birmingham O2 Institute 2 Sun 08 May 2016 – London O2 Shepherds Bush Empire Gilbert is a force to be reckoned with. With a storied stage show, one that is high velocity as it is long on songs drawn from the rough hewn artist’s own life, the Jefferson, Georgia-born and –raised songwriter believes in cutting deep veins of truth into his music. “People everywhere like to raise hell and have a good time,” says Gilbert. “It’s one of the things, no matter where I go, people seem to agree on. But they also want their music to dig a little deeper – and maybe show a little bit more of how life really is. I may write drinking songs and fighting songs, but I also write songs about faith, about hitting your knees and being lost and trying to be the best man I can be. I think the most hardcore rowdy people, when you look inside, need that just as much. I know I do… These songs are all about making my way through world, so they’ve been road-tested.” Just As I Am topped Billboard and iTunes’ Country Albums chart upon release, ultimately becoming the third-highest Country seller of 2014 Featuring the Multi-Platinum number one ‘Bottoms Up,’ the nearly-double platinum number one ‘One Hell Of An Amen’ and Gold-certified ‘Small Town Throwdown,’ Just As I Am remained in the Top 5 best-selling Country Albums of 2015 as well. With live performances from the heavy hitters all week long, this festival is the country music mecca… a pilgrimage for the whole family to share the passion of music row. And topping the list of events this week is none other than the CMT Music Awards, hosted at Bridgestone arena, and broadcast live on CMT! CMT Music Awards 2015 Performer Line-up: CMT kicks off the summer with the 2015 CMT Music Awards live in Nashville on Wednesday, June 10, with Erin Andrews and Brittany Snow hosting. Carrie Underwood, Reba, Florida Georgia Line, Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Luke Bryan, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Sam Hunt, Zac Brown Band, A Thousand Horses, Chris Janson, Frankie Ballard, Kelsea Ballerini, Maddie and Tae and RaeLynn are scheduled to perform. This will be Carrie Underwood’s first official post-baby performance and one hell of an indicator to how her upcoming tour production will look. She’s also in the lead with the most award nominations this year, so that takes a lot of pressure off Mrs. Shelton and might give her a summer to recoup and rebuild her next big move. Rumor also has it that Kieth Urban is even debuting a brand new song during his moment in that spotlight! CMT Music Awards 2015 Hosting Sneak Peek: Now in an ever-growing trend of non-musicians hosting our award shows, this year we have Dancing With The Stars host Erin Andrews and actress Brittany Snow working the mic. While many complain because we love having just that much more time with our favorite artists on screen, our team would like to note that not all artists are comfortable reading cue cards and stiffly delivering pre-written jokes, so I’ll take the actress and friend over another Trace Adkins year. 2015 CMT Music Awards Nominees: Video of the Year Carrie Underwood, “Something in the Water” Darius Rucker, “Homegrown Honey” Dierks Bentley, “Drunk on a Plane” Florida Georgia Line, “Dirt” Jason Aldean, “Burnin’ It Down” Kenny Chesney, “American Kids” Lady Antebellum, “Bartender” Lee Brice, “I Don’t Dance” Luke Bryan, “Play It Again” Maddie & Tae, “Girl in a Country Song” Miranda Lambert with Carrie Underwood, “Somethin’ Bad” Sam Hunt, “Leave the Night On” Male Video of the Year Dierks Bentley, “Drunk on a Plane” Eric Church, “Talladega” Jason Aldean, “Burnin’ It Down” Keith Urban, “Somewhere in My Car” Kenny Chesney, “American Kids” Luke Bryan, “Play It Again” Female Video of the Year Carrie Underwood, “Little Toy Guns” Carrie Underwood, “Something in the Water” Lee Ann Womack, “The Way I’m Livin’” Miranda Lambert, “Little Red Wagon” RaeLynn, “God Made Girls” Reba, “Going Out Like That” Group Video of the Year A Thousand Horses, “Smoke” Eli Young Band, “Dust” Lady Antebellum, “Bartender” Little Big Town, “Day Drinking” The Band Perry, “Chainsaw” Zac Brown Band, Continue reading CMT Music Awards 2015 – Viewer Guide

Waylon Jennings Birthday Bash

Join The Celebration Of Waylon Jennings And His Nationwide Birthday Bash! Country music artists Keith Urban, Kris Kristofferson, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jamey Johnson urge millions of Waylon Jennings fans to come together this summer for a nationwide series of Waylon Birthday Bashes, funding diabetes research at TGen. Urban, Kristofferson, Cyrus and Johnson are among the members of the new National Honorary Committee for The Waylon Fund for Diabetes Research. All contributions to the fund go to the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), one of the nation’s premier non-profit biomedical research institutes. The fund helps TGen to quickly translate laboratory discoveries into new ways to diagnose and treat diabetes, which affects nearly 26 million Americans. Waylon’s “kicking down the doors” style of music will infuse the events, which feature regional and national acts, including: Shooter Jennings, Tommy Jennings, and the Rowdy Johnson Band. In a suburb of Phoenix, the headquarters of TGen, a Waylon Birthday Bash is planned June 17 at the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe. This bash features “DJ Dana” Armstrong, founder of Valley Fever Country Night, and several local live-music acts: Ray Lawrence Jr., Tony Martinez, James Parks, Steve Larson and Hans Olson. Also appearing from Nashville is J.P. Harris and The Tough Choices. “We have a built-in Waylon fan base here who are happy to support a progressive diabetes research fund in his name. We have held Waylon tribute nights in the past, and if we can raise awareness and some funds for TGen in this way, I know we will have a good time doing it,” Armstrong said. The dates and locations of Waylon Birthday Bashes are: June 8-10 — A three-day Honky Tonk Throwdown at PJ’s Lager House in Detroit. June 15 — The Wayland in New York; Firehouse Saloon in Houston; and High Dive in Seattle. June 15-16 — A two-day event, featuring Waylon’s son Shooter Jennings, is set for a festival in Whiteface, Texas, (near Waylon’s his hometown of Littlefield). June 17 — Richie Albright, Waylon’s long-time drummer and co-producer, and Waymore’s Outlaws at Robert’s Western World in Nashville; and Valley Fever Country Night at the Yucca Tap Room in Tempe. Birthday bashes will be promoted by Waylon Fund Partners — which includes Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), Music News Nashville (MNN), Sony Music, Universal Music Publishing Group, Country Music Nation (CMN), and the Ernest Tubb Records Shops — with messages expected to reach more than 1 million Waylon fans. Waylon Birthday Bashes originated from everyday Waylon fans who loved his music and his “Outlaw” genre, which challenged the Nashville establishment, spearheaded crossover appeal and re-popularized country music. In the same spirit as the “Outlaw” movement, The Waylon Fund enables TGen scientists to challenge conventional ideas and discover novel ways of attacking diabetes. Working with Waylon’s widow, Jessi Colter, and their son, Shooter Jennings, TGen established The Waylon Fund in October 2011. Waylon, who lived much of his storied career in Arizona, died in 2002 at age 64 from complications of diabetes. He Continue reading Waylon Jennings Birthday Bash
