Carrie Underwood Press Conference Letdown

Carrie Underwood makes a big hooplah about Olay? Carrie Underwood fans weren’t exactly thrilled with this morning’s press conference, and probably for good reason. After her obvious snub from the 2010 CMA’s, fans were expecting a new tour announcement, a new single, or even a simple statement congratulating the other nominees and wishing them the best. Heck, some even expected announcements of a baby to complete her year of family growth. Instead, they’re getting a commercial for cosmetics. That’s right, Carrie Underwood is holding a press conference to announce that she is endorsing Olay products, and will be their first “Celebrity Ambassador”. I think I will hold a press conference… in it I will announce that I prefer Folgers French Roast coffee, Subway over Quizno’s, and Dodge over Ford… Apparently commercial endorsements are the only thing press conference-worthy for Carrie this fall? New Music From Shania Twain?

Shania Twain signs new management deal with upstart firm – Could new music come next? Shania Twain has kept a pretty modest profile through her divorce and public resurfacing, but with appearances on American Idol and other shows, she’s definitely looking to reclaim some of her former glory. That being said, it’s no wonder she’s updating her management in order to get the best opportunities available in the industry. According to Country Aircheck, Shania has chosen to follow long-time publicist Jason Owen as he leaves UMG next month to start his own management firm, Sandbox Management. Shania and I have been together for over eight years in my role at UMG and to start this new journey with her is a true privilege for me,” Owen told Country Aircheck today. “We have some exciting plans in the works that will expand her worldwide career into new areas of music and entertainment, which will all be revealed very soon. Brantley Gilbert – The south’s best kept secret… until now! Lately the web has been all abuzz over Jason Aldean‘s newest single “My Kind of Party“, but surprisingly the buzz isn’t about Aldean! After all, he is a Georgia boy! I love how passionate you all are about this song and my music, I just want you to know that this is a good thing. Rosanne Cash – Composed Review

Rosanne Cash provides a personal, and engaging account of her life thus far in “Composed”. Rosanne Cash has long lived in the shadow of her father’s legacy. His notoriety within the country music and Americana circles has long been both a demon and a blessing that his eldest daughter has danced with throughout her life. But unlike the media, that is NOT what she focuses on in her auto-biography that hit store bookshelves today. In my line of work I receive dozens upon dozens of books to review each month, each telling the story of one artists’ life or another. In each I usually find a predictable formula… a chronological telling of facts as they built up to the celebrity we now know from news media, radio and movies. But in Composed: A Memoir you forget that you are reading such a tale. Instead, she has managed to write her story in such a way that you feel as if you have been allowed the rare opportunity to sneak a peek into the diary of an old friend. You find yourself relating to her experiences with her place in the family, her self-esteem, and the way individual events alter her perception of life. From beginning to its current stopping point, you are fully enveloped in her world, and as you reach the end of the book, it is abundantly clear her story is far from over.Country Music Photo Gallery
