CMNB Is Seeing Red and You Should Too!

Country Music News Blog is seeing red, and we want you too as well! In light of the disastrous tornadoes that struck right near our headquarters here at Country Music News Blog, we URGE every one of our readers to find a way to help the victims of this and other disasters! Last night another deadly tornado violently ripped through the town of Joplin, Missouri, just one hour north of our offices, and the death toll is at 96 and rising. The storm system left a path of destruction over half a mile wide and six miles long, hitting St John’s hospital as well as hundreds of residential homes and businesses. Emergency crews and The American Red Cross are set up all through the town and using their limited resources to treat, shelter, and feed the victims of this deadly tornado, and they just got word that more storms of equal strength are expected tonight and tomorrow. Ronnie Dunn’s How Far to Waco Video

Ronnie Dunn Releases Video for How Far to Waco from Upcoming Album. Ronnie Dunn is set to release his first ever solo album, Ronnie Dunn, on June 7th, and he is giving fans a little taste of what’s to come with recent single debuts and corresponding videos. The album includes twelve tracks, eight of which are either written or co-written by Ronnie, and it has given him the opportunity to really delve into subject matter that holds meaning for him and express himself as an individual. In January, he introduced his first single, “Bleed Red“, which so far has been a huge success, and he has subsequently released the video for this track in addition to a video for “I Can’t Help Myself“. While both of these songs are reflective and a little mournful, his latest video release “How Far to Waco“, out May 17th, is jam-packed with energy and fun. Of the three tracks released so far with it’s mariachi influences, fast beats and an out-on-the-road-with-the-wind-in-my-hair vibe “How Far to Waco” definitely has the feel of a summer hit. I’ve been a fan of Bob Wayne‘s for quite a few years, watching him in small clubs in Phoenix, and now again in Fayetteville, and I think I’ve loved just about everything he’s put out so far. Josh Turner Surprises Scotty McCreery

Josh Turner Stops By For Duet with Scotty McCreery. Josh Turner paid a special visit to American Idol contestant Scotty McCreery during his finalist celebration. Taking place in McCreery’s hometown of Garner, N.C., this included a special concert in front of over 30,000 fans. McCreery’s “gold ticket” audition song which carried him through much of the American Idol competition was Josh Turner’s “Your Man“, and just as McCreery was beginning to perform the song for his fans, Josh Tuner appeared on stage very nearly giving McCreery a heart attack. Josh and Scotty then performed “Your Man” together on stage to the delight of all the fans present. McCreery has received much attention throughout the competition, and honestly, his performances, at least as far as his stage presence is concerned, have improved. However, it remains that Scotty simply is not an original talent. He is a copy, either intentionally or by accident, of Josh Turner. The surprise visit by Josh was incredibly generous, and it is nice to see a country star put his weight behind a newcomer. Yet, it is painfully obvious just how similar Scotty’s voice is to Josh’s when you hear them sing together. It is actually difficult to tell that their are two people, not one, singing. Originality is important, and Scotty, up to this point, just has not proved he has it in him. It seems America is a fan of Scotty McCreery, and that he will continue to have success on or off idol. I will probably just go straight to the source though, and stick with Josh Turner. The episode of American Idol featuring footage of the duet will air Thursday, May 19th, and you can see what I mean then.

Ashton Shepherd Shares Special Mother’s Day Video. Ashton Shepherd is offering a special acoustic version of “I’m Just A Woman” to honor Mother’s Day. It is clearly a song for women, taking a perspective on the challenges in life that are particularly unique to them. Ashton especially has insight into this perspective as she is a mother herself with a 5-year old son and her second child due in September! (Congrats, Ashton!). “I wrote that one by myself. I opened my diary, and I got to an entry where I was writing about feeling kind of bad, empty and sad. Right after that, I’d written, ‘Well, I guess I’m just being a woman.’ When I read that, I underlined it…The song doesn’t bash the man. It’s kind of saying, ‘Buddy, I understand you pretty much 99 percent of the time. I need you to understand me, too, sometimes because I know I can be hard to deal with…I think it gives women a lot of credit. Sugarland’s New Video for “Tonight.” Can Sugarland get any better? Well, apparently, yes, they can. They recently released a new video for their hit song “Tonight“, and it is absolutely wonderful. It manages to be visually striking while not detracting from the music at all. I have to say Jennifer Nettles is so awesome! She is beautiful, energetic and really steals the show on this one! Martina’s McBride’s “Teenage Daughters” Video Adds Depth to Lyrics. Martina McBride‘s new single “Teenage Daughters” released earlier this year, and now the video is available. The song realistically treats the trials of parenthood, and the video definitely adds an additional layer of meaning and substance to the song. It is not a stylized video instead opting for documentary-style footage featuring Martina working on the album in the studio as well as interactions with her family, especially, of course, her daughters. The choice to have her own family in the video as opposed to casting actors and setting up an imaginary scene really does promote the realistic this-is-every-day-living quality so appreciated by country fans. It truly seems this song is coming from a real place that viewers are sure to relate to. Check out the video now.
